Hello! This is my little introduction!

I dabbled with LOTR SBG back in the day, but never owned more than a few models and only played a handful of games. I recently got back into painting Warhammer Fantasy miniatures, and now watching the LOTR trilogy again has tipped me over the edge. I'm back in the game!

I've decided to start by collecting and painting the miniatures needed to play through all the set-piece encounters from the films, in the approximate order in which they appear. So getting hold of the Fellowship, ringwraiths and a few goblins is first on the cards for me.

I'm also on a mission to try and get my wife interested in the hobby. I don't think there's a hope in hell of persuading her to do any painting, but we both enjoy board games and LOTR SBG is relatively untaxing to learn (as opposed to something like Warhammer Fantasy with its 30,000 pages of rules). My plan is to get everything together to play the Balin's Tomb scenario - if I can hook her with that then I see much fun ahead!

I'm based in Cardiff BTW, so if anybody fancies a game some time in the future that would be great.

Greetings, and welcome back to the fold!

Good luck getting your wife involved in the hobby. I've had zero luck after a decade of efforts!

Welcome back! I've had minimal success. My wife occasionally will play, but that's it. Hope you have greater success

Hi there, welcome back :)

The fellowship, nazgul and goblins are usually very easy to find on ebay and rarely break the bank. Some of the rarer poses can go for quite a bit but the basic models for gaming are quite frequently available. GW also obviously have various poses available too.

There is apparently quite a big following in Cardiff, I seem to recall someone mentioning this on the GBHL facebook page.
Best of luck getting your other half into playing. Perhaps try one of the scenario based games where she gets to use her favourite lotr characters :)

Do join the GBHL facebook group. Fron the top of my head there is a league tournement planned in Cardiff, which prob' indicates a player nexus locally to you. Worth def going to a one if local, as well helping you find local players.
