In the lotr sbg rulebook it says that multiple units from each players force cant be involved in a fight. How would this work if two units dueled both having a spearman supporting them.

I hope that I do understand your question correctly: A spearman does not count as being in combat, he just gives you one extra attack with his own strength and fight value (by the way, this means that you are allowed to shoot at a spearman without an in way roll for the combat)
