So as i there are many abbreviations used in the general discussion (like GW=Games Workshop) i just thought i would try to make a list over the most commons ones with explanaiton. The reason i am doing this is because i really used ages to figure some of these out.

so..

    The Lord of the rings
    LOTR = Lord of the rings
    FOTR = Fellowship of the ring
    TTT = The two towers
    ROTK = Return of the king

    Games Workshop and Games
    GW = Games Workshop
    SBG = Strategy battle game
    WOTR = War of the ring
    40k = Warhammer 40000
    WHFB = Warhammer Fantasy Battle
    BOFA = Battle of the five armies

    Minatures
    WOMT = Warriors of Minas tirith
    RoR = Riders of Rohan
    SkoDa = Swan Knights of Dol Amroth
    WoMT=Warriors of Minas Tirith
    MoS=Mouth of Sauron
    RotN = Rangers of the North
    RoA = Rangers of Arnor
    RoG = Rangers of Gondor
    KoMT = Knights of Minas Tirith
    GotFC = Guards of the Fountain Court
    CG = Citadel Guard
    WKoA=Witch King of Angmar
    WoR= Warriors of Rohan
    WE - Wood Elf
    AotD - Army of the Dead
    KotD - King of the Dead
    KG=Khazad Guard
    IG=Iron Guard
    OV=Osgiliath Veterans
    RRG=Royal Rohan Guard
    BVA=Blackroot Vale Archers
    SM= Space Marine

    WOTR Shortcuts
    EH - Epic Hero

    Books
    OR = The one rulebook to rule them all (for SGB)
    FOG = Fall of Gondolin (a supplement made by people on this site)
    AOTK = Age of the Kings (yet another supplement by this site)
    LoME = Legions of Middle Earth
    MoM=Mines of Moria
    SotS= Scouring of the Shire sourcebook
    FotN= Fall of the Necromancer sourcebook
    ASitE= A shadow in the East sourcebook

    Tools/Materials
    PVA=white glue
    CA glue=Super Glue

    Around the site
    OR = One ring (this website)
    Ringwraiths = The admins and mods on this site
    PM = Personal/Private message

    Usual discussion shortcuts
    AtD = At the Double
    WYSIWYG = What you see is what you get
    imo - In my opinion
    imho = in my honest opinion,
    imho- Also, In my HUMBLE opinion
    IMNSHO - In My Not So Humble Opinion
    wip = work in progress
    TIA = thanks in advance
    btw = by the way
    ES = Epic Strike
    HTH = hope this helps
    jsyk = just so you know
    OP = Original Post
    np = no problem
    pov = point of view
    ATM = At the moment
    JK = just kidding
    IRC = internet relay chat
    IME = In My Experience
    NMM = Non Metallic Metal
    SENMM= Sky Earth Non Metallic Metal (aka chrome)
    LOL = laughing out loud
    IIRC- If I recall corectly
    RAW = Rules As Written
    RAI = Rules As Intended
    WoT = Wings of Terror (spell)
    ftw = often and originally "for the win!"
    but other meanings include...well...let's just say it
    means it's very good. Not used often here but in
    other forums and often in IRC ( "KotD ftw!")

    Other random shortcuts
    AC=Assassins Creed

If you see some that are missing please post them below.. dont know if this will be helpful...

And for those relatively new to issues like this, there are often variation in how some are entered. I use a sort of camel-case due to drilled in my head from my programming work. So WotR, FotR, etc. Others go all caps ( WOTR, FOTR, AOTD ). No difference in meaning, just cosmetic.

Please note - One Ring does not generally encourage the use of abbreviations, this is just here to help you in the case that you do come across them.

OR is not only common here for this site but also for the Big Blue Book that was the final SBG core rule set (because of the Ring on the cover).

WE - Wood Elf

EH - Epic Hero

AotD - Army of the Dead

And for those relatively new to issues like this, there are often variation in how some are entered. I use a sort of camel-case due to drilled in my head from my programming work. So WotR, FotR, etc. Others go all caps ( WOTR, FOTR, AOTD ). No difference in meaning, just cosmetic.

Farmer Giles of Ham needs to edit his first post to include the new acronyms. The sticky idea is pretty cool; someone should PM a mod once the first post has been reorganized... :)
