Yes, TLA is full of people who repetively go to the tournaments and often win them. It is undisputable that they know the rules better than anyone.

Plus the tla debates on rulings like elven cloaks and volley fire shows that they sometimes miss the whole point of a rule to focus on the wording (when it suits them only of course).

That's imposible as players will take opposing armies that will have a negative effect on them but will still agree with the others, like Legolas being hit by volley fire for example. Also some refs will make a ruling one way due to their GW mates playing at the event, a fact I have personally witnessed.

I'm not suggesting that every tournament ref is perfect but also i do think that many tla regulars do exactly the same in choosing the rules interpretation that suits themselves or their friends too so i don't consider them a higher authority. In this case with Thranduil there are logical arguments on either side but ultimately no way of picking a definitive answer, so personally i think an official gw ref should be the highest authority available and their ruling take priority over an internet group.

Now we are left with 2/5 of our players feeling cheated and who have claimed to be "losing interest in SBG" and are considering to leave the sport as Rohan and Elves are OP.

these guys dont know how lucky they are ... I wish I had a community of guys who want to play lotr sbg just play the game enjoy it and appeciate the chance to play

You need to leave the word quote, and all of the brackets andd slashes.

For the avatar, go on google, find a pic, click on it, but don't double click, then copy the URL (ie web address) from the top of the screen.

This is funny, because Rohan is NOT OP. You just got lucky one time.

Elves are though, in SBG at least, when played well.

Agreed on that point. Although I find that a Mumak can even the odds, if used properly.

Thranduil's crown is, IMO, broken. Not overpowered, but broken in the sense that the rules aren't sufficient to resolve it. The magic rules are explicit that spells can be resisted and that rolling under the casting value is a failed resist and at or over the casting value is a success. Without a casting value, the rules are telling me to compare the resistance roll to a number that doesn't exist, hence broken. The rules literally break down.

I'm sympathetic to the position that a 6 resists anything, but I'm not totally convinced. I can see the appeal of ruling it as unresistable, but again I'm not convinced it's clear.

In the absence of a published FAQ from GW, if you want to play me we'll have to come to some agreement before the game about how it works. I'm not too picky about what the answer is it is so long as we're all gentlemen about it. The real answer, I think, is that the rule is sufficiently unclear that any way you resolve it is a houserule. It just goes on the list of things to make clear ahead of time if you're thinking of playing wood elves or running a tournament.

The worst time to try to resolve the question is mid game when you've just set if off next to my Fellbeast. Discussions of what resolution is best on a message board is fine, but they're not binding on anyone. Whatever the best answer, in the absence of an official answer it's all a question of negotiation with your opponent and trying not to be unreasonable about it.
