Is there much difference between the rule book that comes with the Mines of Moria box and the £35 hardback rule book. From what I can make out it has more pages, but have no idea what is contained within the extra pages. What I'm asking I suppose is it worth buying if I already have the pocket sized rules?

I has a few extra profiles (which you get in the Warband Sourcebooks anyway) and some modelling and painting guides.

Cheers. I might get it at some point. I have the Fallen Realms Sourcebook and there seem to be painting/modelling guides in all of the GW books I've got.

The 5 new Warband Soucrbooks don't have painting/modelling advice, but most earlier books do.

I wouldn't bother with the big rule book for this type of info, the smaller book has all the rules and all you need, and the rest is available elsewhere. For the painting guides in the sourcebooks, they're all kind of obsolete now that GW has released a whole new line of paints. For the terrain guides, the best ones IMHO are in the journey books (which I believe are still being sold), and some sourcebooks like Shadow in the East (which may become hard to find). I believe GW still sells a guide to making war game terrain, which is a lot more useful IMHO than the big rule book.

The big rulebook has a bunch of terrain and painting guides that are frankly kind of lousy to mediocre at best. The articles on this site will realistically do you just as well or better. The Mines of Moria book has very small print, but that's really the only reason to choose the One Ring book over it, especially now with the new sourcebooks.

Thanks guys. I have the Journey books and the how to make terrain book. The older sourcebooks seem to be out of print. I'm fairly confident in my painting ability, so more guides do nothing for me. As long as I'm not missing out on rules. I may get the bigger rule book at some point just because it looks nicer than the little pocket version.

I'd hold off and see if they rerelease it when the Hobbit comes out.
