Post subject:  (SBG)"Your Staff is Broken" spell question and a Faramir one

Hey all :D

I've been getting myself familiar with the magic of the game and one question popped on my mind

Lets say i have Gandalf in my army. And there is a Ringwraith at the opponent's army. Can I use galdalf's spell "your staff is broken" on the ringwraith, thus stripping it from its magic? Or is it just a spell for Saruman?

And now i got another question

Can he use that spell on shamans and other models with staff and magic on them(like a stormcaller, should i have elves as enemies)?

Question about Faramir's armour:

We know that Faramir with heavy armour goes to D7. If i put a shield on him(like the faramir of ithilien model) will he get D8?
At the WD 366 where there is the profile for the Faramir of Ithilien model it states that faramir has a shield but there is no difference in his defense value(it is D7 again). So the shield is just for image?? :P

Heya,
That spell is exclusively for Saruman, it only works on him as the others don't have staffs. Besides, if you look at the rules for staffs, they allow the bearer THW access, and the free point of will. Neither of which Wraiths or Shamans have. On the elf front, apart from friendly games, you'll never play them. The same applies to Stormcallers though, they don't rely on staffs.
On the Faramir front, WD profiles are now obsolete. The details will be in the Kingdoms of Men book, which I don't have at the moment.
Hope this helped,
Bert

Faramir is D7 in that WD issue, but that includes HA and shield. Not sure how you think he can go to D7 without a shield, his profile in the Kings of Men book is D5 because he has armour. He can add HA and a shield for 5 points each, bringing the total max to D7.

I wish they'd included that WD profile in the Kings of Men book, it was expensive but effective.

Bert and whafrog thank you guys :D

Its a pity that this spell is only for saruman. I thought that it was used like the movie scene with gandalf and the witch-king(although galdalf was the loser there :P ) and thus i could "break" the enemy casters.

As for faramir, seems i miscalculated(will check it again to be sure  )

P.S I have the WD issue with the Faramir, captain of Ithilien profile. If the moderators allow it i could post it somewhere on the forums writing his special rules and everything. There is Dwimmerlaik's profile too in that issue.

Not sure if you noticed, but the Witch King also has that spell, hence it can be used on Gandalf too. The spell only works against Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast.

That;s not fair. Witch king can strip magic from good wizards and this cant be countered?

Especially considering that the WK was WEAKER than the Istari (maybe not Radagast but definitely the other 2). That's a good question about posting it, since it's now obsolete, would it be allowed to be posted? The Dwimmerlaik is still a legitimate profile, so you can't post that. If you could post FCoI profile, would it also be possible to post Golfimbul's?

Keep in mind, you aren't really "stripping" the model of its magic, you are only breaking their staff which allows them to expend a free point of will. So if they lose their staff, they may continue to cast until their will pool is depleted.
