Post subject:  Shielding While Transfixed?

I was playing a game yesterday and used Transfix on Boromir. During Combat he shielded using just the two dice because he has one attacked while transfixed and that becomes two while shielding. I questioned this and briefly looked a the rules but couldn't find anything definitive. We proceeded and allowed him to do this for expediency and it was a fun and close fought game.
Now that the game is over I bring it to the wisdom of all of you. I didn't see anything under transfix that prohibits shielding, though he did not blow the horn as that would be actively doing something. I don't think one can shield whilst transfixed but could kind of see it happening. I also don't think he was trying to pull one over on me. I use magic and should know the rules.
So...ruling...?

When you are transfixed you only get one dice. Can't shield, be supported etc. or so I have been led to believe.

Transfix states that the models rolls 1 dice to win the fight, so even if he was supported he'd roll 1 dice. Shielding is also a voluntary action which you declare, so no-no.
