Jätta bra :D Well then what am i waiting for? Gotta buy it then! What's the hobby sections like this time? Remember the old rulebook's hobby section was awful, especially the painting part! Terribly painting guides and terrible grumsy painted figures!

I went the cheap way and bought the soft cover rulebook (the one you get in the starter set) from ebay for 200 swedish kronor instead of buying the hardcover for 600 swedish kronor :P (means I have no idea how the hobby section is :P )

The only thing missing in the softcover rulebook are some new profiles, otherwise complete for points matched games :)

The hobby section is the part of the book where you'll find painting guides, modelling tips and so on :)

You won't find much in the hobby section, in fact I don't think there is one (don't have it with me at the moment).

I believe there's a it of a hobby section, I remember a how to on cleaning up finecast....but that's all I can remember. Anything in the book hobby-wise can be found on here or elsewhere on the internet though.

I think the new rulebook is worth getting when you think it is colour and hard back and hopefully you will have it for years to come. So the price is a little high then everything else is in our hobby. Compared to other similar sized rules it is expensive but not I don't think buying the little paper one from the box set alone is a good use of your cash. Buy the box set for the rules, figures and terrain OR buy the hardback rulebook.

As for the profiles, is EVERYTHING in the profile section or just the new Hobbit stuff? I don't know why I keep forgetting to ask that or check a copy when I'm at our store. In other words, the Fellowship, Rohan, Mordor, Moria, etc. profiles and points present? I have to doubt it but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Food for Thought: In the coming years the additional Hobbit movies will be released, and I imagine GW will also continue creating new models for the series, i.e. Smaug, and most definitely the battle of the five armies, etc. Would it be possible to expect new rules and/or unit types?

Just the new Hobbit stuff (hunters, rivendell knights, etc). Everything else is in the existing sourcebooks.

Figured that, but had hope.

I am considering getting the new hardback book in another couple weeks but may hold out a bit longer and just get the starter set.

Actually, every profile IS in the new book, but they don't have wargear, special rules or point costs. They pretty much compiled all of the last pages from the backs of the source books (the lists) for an easy way of keeping track of profiles and such.

Yes, both rulebooks have all the rules required. The small one just doesn't have any of the profiles in it.
