Post subject:  Hobbit Hardback Rulebook

Hi all.
I am very into SBG and purchased the escape from goblin town set but was disappointed to find no rules and points values etc in the rulebook.
I was therefore considering buying the full rulebook. Can someone confirm that is has the rules and points values for all the new hobbit range.
Also, does it cover all the old LOTR models, for example the Gondor, rohan army lists etc etc.
Thanks.
Nathan

Yes, it has the new hobbit rule sand all the profiles and points for the new hobbit miniatures

But you still need to buy the Sourcebooks for LotR

Quite frankly, I would hold off on it for a bit. People seem to think there will be a sourcebook coming out similar to the ones for the Lord of the Rings stuff. Since all you need is the profiles, it would be better to spend like 20 quid rather than 50.

???
I thought as well that the new hardcover rulebook has ALL the profiles (including the latest and not yet released miniatures) from all the armies(Gondor, Rohan, Mordor, etc, etc)
Why would he need the sourcebooks?

From what I have been told buy the in-the-know people, there will be a sourcebook this year. but when? They wouldnt say that much. And going by the recent codex releases, I'd expect a hardback book for around £25-£35. (last sentence my own opinion so take it as you wish).

The hardback rulebook has all the stat lines from the sourcebooks in the back but if you want the special rules etc then you have to buy the sourcebooks. It only has the profiles for Thorins Company, Radagast, Galadriel, Elrond, Lindir, Saruman, Rivendell Knights, Grimhammers, Warriors of Erebor, Thror, Thrain, Azog, Bolg, Fimbul, Narzug, Hunter Orcs, 3 trolls and goblin town.

Also some eagles and captain profiles.

The new Hobbit hard-back rulebook has the rules for the new Hobbit figures, it is missing a few (Men of Dale, Yazneg for example). But for all the pre-existing units you will need the respective army books.

Why would they bother reprinting all the profiles when they already have 5 sourcebooks @ £17 you can buy.

My local GW "told me" you can expect a sourcebook soon enough to cover dale/erebor units.

Dale rules are in the box, erebor dwarves are in the hardback rulebook. But yes, the sourcebook will have all the new stuff and probably more.

Thanks for your input guys. I may ask in my local GW how long the wait for the sourcebook is. Any more than 3 monts and I might just have to buy the hardback rulebook too!

Just long enough to make you shell out for everything. That's how they roll.

I personally rarely get games in, so I'm perfectly content to wait on either a cheaper source book or a second-hand copy of the main rules manual. Until then, I have the actual rules.

I personally love the hardback rulebook, to me it feels like a collectors piece, a nice big tome with the little red ribbon in to mark your page. It does have all the stats for everything released to date, minus the Warriors of Dale whose rules come in the box and including some unreleased models such as Thrain and Azog. I would but on a Dale/Erebor sourcebook soon though, they've got months of releases to fill so it would make sense.

Does the EfGT rulebook have the same rule section then the hardcover hobbit rulebook. Or do you still need the hardcover rulebook to get all the rule to play with the extended lotr range? (not talking about points cost and stats)

I'm 95% sure the rules are all there. Just profiles and extra pictures are missing.

Post subject:  Re: Hobbit Hardback Rulebook

the small rulebook only has the profiles of what is in the box. So thorins company and goblin town. You dont not get the rules for anything else in there.

Post subject:  Re: Hobbit Hardback Rulebook

Aye yes, you get the core rules of the game in the boxed set, but only profiles (including stats and special rules) for Thorins Co, other Hobbity characters like the Trolls, Grimhammers etc are in the hardback version, as well as 8 scenarios from throughout the first film. Worth noting though that basic profiles for things such as Warriors of Rohan and Mordor Orcs etc (I.E The rest of the LOTR range that isn't Hobbit based) are NOT in either rulebook, so as above posted said you do need additional sourcebooks to find out about those models.
