Post subject:  Question about UH Scouts and Mordor K.

Hello :)

I've bought Uruk Hai scouts and Mordor Knights.

I think I've read somewhere scouts are faster than regular Uruks (move more) or is it only when they are around that one hero?

And second question :)
In box of 6 Mordor Knights there is this guy http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1060361a_99121464006_MorgulKnights4_873x627.jpg

what's his difference?

I don't know much about rules, so i must ask :)

Mauhur has an option that can upgrade scouts to move faster

Thank you. Any suggestions on them, what they are good for compared to Fighting UH?

It looks like that Morgul Knight has a horn in his hand.

Horn it is, but does it have use like Boromir's horn or something else?

Uruk-hai Scouts are cheaper than Uruk-hai Warriors, so you can have more, but they are easier to kill. They also have different weapon options (I.E. orc bow instead of pike).

As for the Morgul Knight's horn, it works like all other normal horns (so not like Boromir's). To find out what they do, you'll have to buy one of the sourcebooks as we're not allowed to tell you. Suffice to say, it makes your troops more likely pass Courage tests.

@Hashut - Thank you :) I know you can't tell me stats and so :) will try to find about horns in TTT and ROTK rulebooks I have those two.

Not sure about those rulebooks, but the OR book doesn't have a generic horn rule, this was adopted later. If those old rulebooks have rules for Merry's horn, and it relates to Courage, then that's what all generic horns do now, except they apply to everyone in your army.

UH Scouts can be pretty effective. They are easier to kill but only by -1 Def so it is a bit dependent on who you are fighting against (their Str) if it really matters or not. You still have the good Fight and Strength values that make Uruk Hai a tough opponent.

The Scouts lack pikes but I've never played pike blocks myself so don't view that as much of a limit. And a well themed UH Scout force can have cheap, generic Orcs running along side to help provide support if needed (as well as some fodder, mixed weapons, etc).

Now that bows have the -1 penalty on movement I don't think there's nearly as much value bringing them along. Back in the OR version I would often equip 1/3 of my UH Scouts with bows. Although they were only partly effective I found that having a number of Scouts able to half-move and shoot would generally let me take out a few enemy models before we engaged. The bow-armed Urks would only be a turn or two behind the others and would serve as solid reinforcements when they arrived. Now that those guys are only hitting on blind luck I can only see giving them bows in case you may need to setup and threaten cavalry for a couple turns. Even then generic Orcs with bows are just as good and cheaper.

Of course...these comments also show that I prefer to play my Uruk Scouts themed. There are more cost effective alternatives for ranged fire for example.

Thank you guys for your opinion :)

Found Horn rule in "In Sauron's sinister service" think it was free to download on GW.
