Post subject:  Oath cards description. Help please!

Hi everyone!

I'm planning a big local tournament and I would like to know what knid of oath cards were used in GT tournaments in the past. I need them in order to have a reference and adapt it to our score system.
Here, the people use to use a secondary objectives like hold miniatures in the deployment enemy area for bonus points in the final score.

I know the oath cards had differnet kind of "succesful" levels. Any information you could give would be really appreciated.

Thank you very much!

I'm a big fan of oaths. Ideally they should award tournament points as well as victory points. The reason I say this is that if they award tournament points then even if you're getting smashed in a game you still have something else to fight for to improve your standing in the overall tournament.

I've still got my pack of cards from WW doubles last year, there were about 12 cards with different objectives, before each game you picked 3 and placed them face down, your opponent then picked one of them and that was your oath for the game, that way you got some choice about your oath but not complete choice, it worked quite well.

I think there were two levels of completion for each oath, one worth 2TPs and one worth 4TPs, something like that anyway.

I haven't looked at them in ages but as far as I can recall some of the oaths were as follows.

Kill 3/6 models with 1 of your models in one turn

Kill 3/6 models with magic in one turn

Kill more models with shooting than your opponent/kill twice as many

Place a marker anywhere on the table and have a model/3 models within 3" at the end of the game

Have more models/twice as many models as your opponent in their deployment zone at the end of the game.

As you can see some of them were nigh on impossible to achieve - the kill 6 models one required you to have a mounted hero or monster charge, get trapped by 3 models, call a heroic combat (which you'd never do), kill all 3 and then somehow charge another 3 models and kill all of them too!

There were loads more but I can't honestly remember them, I'll have a look tonight and post them for you.

I've got the cards from the Heroes of Middle Earth tourney (held at WHW feb 2012) at home. I'll post them here when I get home. They are a bit outdated now (being designed for legions) but I'm sure they could be tweaked.

Sounds interesting. I've never heard of this before but I'd love to see more details.

These are the ones from 2012's doubles, you got 1 TP for completing the first level and 2 TPs for the second level. Like I said, some are far more achievable than others and some are night on impossible or damage your chances of winning the game (use all your Might on Heroic Combats, don't use any Will etc.), these ones are far from perfect but they are really good fun and add an extra dimension to a game.

50% of your models are in the enemy deployment zone at the end of the game
50% of your models are in the enemy deployment zone at the end of the game and all your heroes are alive

Place 3 markers on the board at the end of the game control 1 by having a model within 3" of it
Place 3 markers on the board at the end of the game control all 3 by having a model within 3" of them

Pick one hero who must kill 3 models in a nominated Fight phase
Pick one hero who must kill 5 models in a nominated Fight phase

Win 50% of the Fights in the Fight phase of turn 6
Win 100% of the Fights in the Fight phase of turn 6

No heroes in your army fail a courage test of any kind
No heroes or warriors in your army fail a courage test of any kind

All of your heroes have 1 Will point remaining
All of your heroes have all of their Will points remaining

Kill 3 enemy models in one movement phase with magic
Kill 5 enemy models in one movement phase with magic

Pick an enemy hero costing under 150 points - remove his last wound with magic
Pick an enemy hero costing over 150 points - remove his last wound with magic

Kill an enemy monster in one shooting phase
Kill two enemy monsters in one shooting phase

Kill 5 enemy models in one shooting phase
Kill 10 enemy models in one shooting phase

Pick one of your heroes who costs under 100 points. Have him kill an enemy monster.
Pick one of your heroes who costs under 100 points. Have him kill an enemy monster in one turn.

Use all your Might on Heroic Combats
Use all your Might on Heroic Combats and kill the enemy leader in combat with one of your heroes

Thank you for your answers!

I'm working now on how to create the torunament rules and that info Dr Grant is really gold for me!

I'll try to do some modifications based on your information.

Thank you again!
