Hey guys, so I was wondering about the Rulebook from the Hobbit SBG. And does the rulebook include the profiles from The Lord of the RIngs?

Otherwise it would be better for me to buy the old rulebook from eBay.

If you want the most current rules then use the hobbit and new source books but if you want to have fun with a group of friends who don't care much about using the most current rules then the one ring would be the best.

If you have no interest in using the hobbit models, and are just sticking woth LotR, then my advice would be to ebay an old copy of the one rulebook, and put the money you saved towards the Sourcebooks. Althought he Hobbit rulebook does contain the lotr profiles, it's in a reference format, so no points values, options, etc. Just lists of stats.

I'd highly recommend the source-books and atleast the small Hobbit Rulebook the addition of some of the Hobbit rules are very nice and the source-books add so much versatility to armies

Absolutely use the new version of the rules, which with upgraded heroes and monster have really improved the game, the source books will allow you to field LotR models as well. For all the relevant literature you will need to shell out £125, but you don't have to buy all the source books at once, or necessarily all them!

I would say "do not buy the old rulebook"
THe new rules are far superior.

I'd would ebay to get hte small rule book (or by Escape fromg Goblin town) if you want to play the LOTR profiles because that leaves you more money for the sourcebooks.

Full on agree with getting the new rules. The EfGT set is a nice buy with the mini rules and some nice figures. I started with the MoM set about 8 years ago and felt much of the same thrill breaking into the EfGT. If you don't want the models at all I do see the mini rules on ebay and such at decent price.

My only gripe with the sourcebooks is the amount of repeated pages. I have one and will not spend any money on any others. I think it's very important to have all the profiles but it's highly offensive to me as a consumer to be asked to pay $28+ or so for about $17 in different content (some of which is ALSO repeated into the rule book). That's over $50 of my money wasted over the course of the books. No other complaint on them though and as I said it's important to have all the information if possible.
