Can Duinhir alter his D3 roll to wound with might?
To bump a 4 to a 5 so he causes 3 instead of 2 wounds?

My thought would be yes, though I'm not 100% sure.

Also, do you have to take in the way rolls when shooting at trolls if there's an orc in front of him?

Logically, I'd say that yes, he can alter the D3, and no, you don't have to do an in-the-way roll when you target a troll with an orc in front of him (although you may wanna get down to Line of Sight to double-check). I mean, what's the troll gonna do, duck down behind the orc?

No he can't use Might for the D3 roll. The list of things Might can be used for in the rulebook is exhaustive. If a model can use Might to affect other special rules it is clearly stated in the rule's description.

As for the In The Way roll, it obviously depends on where everyone's standing but, assuming all 3 models are in a line and on the same level, yes, you would have to take an ITW roll for the orc. It doesn't matter how much of the target model is obscured by the model in the way. Get down to the model's eye view and have a look, if the shooter can't get a completely clear line of sight to all of the troll you have an ITW roll.

Hope that helps.

On a similar note, does his rule happen before or after fate rolls?
So will one successful fate roll prevent all D3 wounds, or will each of the D3 wounds require a separate fate roll?

no, each wound should have a different fate roll
