gandulf sword

i just read that gandalfs sword is a elven blade so can he use it just like and elven blade and gains its rules or does gw just treat it like a regular sword? because if it does it would make gandalf even better in melee. and if no what are the reasons then?

It counts as a regular sword with +1 to his strength while wounding. Anything more is just "reading into" the wording a little to much.

it explicitly states that is a sword, refer to wargear entry etc, has a strength bonus etc. Doesn't ever state it is an ELVEN BLADE.

Gandalf's doesn't. Thorin's does though.

that kinda seems silly if gandalfs doesnt but thorins does and thorin is a melee char -_-

It makes perfect sense to me. Its helping differentiate profiles, and the swords are not exactly the same. Gandalf gets the +1 Str, Thorin gets the wounding specials and the other options that come with having an "Elven Blade"

Furthermore, in the film at least, "Orcrist" is an "elven blade" style, curved and singled edged weapon, while Glamdring is a straight sword.

Plus, based on the films only, Thorin uses Orcrist two-handed and one-handed, whereas Gandalf's big enough to use Glamdring one-handed alongside his staff.

While yes Gandalf used Glamdring one handed, he did use it two handed when he lost his staff. So I'm not sure that's really an accurate description of why orcrist is one way and Glamdring is the other the other.

I think it's just for variety really. Also in game the only time Gandalf would be able to use Glamdring two handed would be if had his staff broken since he counts as armed with both.
