Hi all,

Maybe a stupid question  , but is it possible to surround/capture a mighty model as for example a cave troll and if yes, is it with the same amount of models as discribed on p29 (rulebook One Ring), with only 3 "normal" models?

Yes. You can trap any model with three of you models (unless they have a special rule such as the Hasharin's 'preternatural Agility')

Thx, i just found it a little be odd that the values are the same as for a normal model. So in theorie, you can block a troll with only 3 knights, when you're lucky with te dices of course.
Thx again, I keep that in mind. 8)

It's not strange it's just basic geometry.

The loser has to be able to back away without moving the opponent, with a round base and three opponents equally spaced there's never enough room to do that, no matter how big the base is ;)

You can even trap a Balrog with three Hobbit's :P

Yes, as long as it can't back away, it can be trapped.

And watch out for the new Monster special rules like Barge. The old tactic of tying up a monster with a single weak model is no more. Barge is like a mini Heroic Combat---but more powerful: does not cost might, can use it every turn, the monster decides where to move its victims. Along with arrows being nerfed and volley eliminated, Spider Queens are dancing for joy. Monsters with Might are fearsome now, and Fell Beasts...ouch. Could even see some trolls back on the table. Fun!

You can, but it's generally not a good idea. My brothers Ent regularly beats off 10-15 uruks surrounding him, and kills one every turn. Of course, if you want to do it for another purpose then killing the monster, then it'll work fine.

It's just in the last game my troll was surrounded by (if I remember correct) 7 or more Minas Tirith soldiers, and he didn't had any chance.
I must be honoust, because it was one of the first time's, we used/read the rules wrong. I did not see that the Troll / model first have to lose the battle, before they have there extra die ... stupid me
With the latest responses of everyone here, I've learned a lot a more, thx to you all :yay: :yay:
