Also, I think the whole background for them and the reason they have low courage is because they're just hunters who are good at taking out big game, but not scary big game. (yes, I know I'm answering a 2 year old question)

From the Battle of Pellenor Fields:
Quote:
...both Duilin of Morthond and his brother were trampled to death when they assailed the mumakil, leading their bowmen close to shoot at the eyes of the monsters...

They should definitely be more than courage 2, definitely courage 3 and possibly courage 4. The archers should have the option to take a spear, seeing as every other Ranger can.

But then they would be Blackroot Vale Rangers, not Blackroot Vale Archers....

But i agree they are very limited, and fluff-wise you wouldn't have an entire band of soldiers that are purely versed in the ways of archery and cannot wield any other weaponry, spears would make them a lot more playable, more-so than the 1pt decrease i feel.

Giving them elf bows is too much. Elven bows are supposed to be the best in Middle Earth, yet strength 3 bows are becoming pretty ubiquitous in the game...

What is wrong with archers who are NOT experts in all forms of warfare? Chances are, they hunt deer or rabbits when there's no threat to Gondor, and are therefore unused to scary battlefields...

The GotC can wield longbows, which are elf bows in all but name. Why can't experienced hunters?

I have no issue with them being more limited in use - Rangers are supposed to be something special, and felt less so when Fiefdoms had access to them as well. With less prowess, though, should come a smaller points cost.

Yes, but look at the original posting date. 2 and a half years ago when he wrote that, he was absolutely correct.

Didn't notice sorry, why was this necromanced anyway?

Because someone wanted to talk about their effectiveness with the new rules, but didn't want to create a new thread I guess.

Traded for the command set, going to try them out before I judge them, I want them for a sense of complecency though I have all the other fiefdoms represented and the warbands rules is nice, I'll never be tempted to buy more than 12
