And, doesn't the unchanneled version of sap will now only take one point?

Ah, okay. Then you'll probably take all of a shaman's will. I guess you'd only use the channelled version in blue vs. blue when you're up against another ring wraith, or maybe against a wizard...

Hmm, nice points there fellows. Not many people would sap will a shaman imo, though it could happen.

How about a little twist.

Lets say the Shamans are allies to a Goblin Town list, and you don't really want to spend your points on Moria Warrios, would you still see Groblog as the more viable option?

That purely depends on the point size. If you want a GT army, I would say that the bare minimum would need the GG, the Scribe and Grinnah and definitely give them full warbands. Then based on how many points you have leftover I would take at least one shaman. I wouldn't take Groblog until after the 2nd shaman.

Err, because it would be a waste. It is still only on a 5+ so one or the other.

@Draugy, thanks for your opinion.

Just want to point out that drawing line of sight to the column does not matter. The rulebook states it has to be a vital part, as in weapons, terrain, and hands don't count as eligible targets. If the model was rotates and only his hand was visable behind the rock, you wouldn't be able to target him.

However I don't think there are enough LotR players to play mean like this haha. Since he is elevated but can be hidden in plain sight, i think most players should play it by ear or replace him with a normal goblin for LoS purposes.

by the time groblog dies, you probably wont have enough will to channel fury anyway. I always keep groblog within range of a shaman to help keep him alive.

Most players play TLoS (true line of sight). So if Groblog is towering above the rest of his hoard, he can be shot and targetted. Never played anyone who has used a normal goblin to represent where he is. I've seen people cut him off his base.
