Are you talking about Rumil? Why against uber-monsters and heros? :?

A gondor battlecry trebuchet. two shots from that baby will have that big ol' flaming sucker out of there instantly.

Strength 10 against defence 10. first direct hit causes wounds to be halved, second one wipes the floor with him.

There you go.

That would be a last resort I suppose, imagine how lucky you would have to be to score that wound, although spears and pikes would help.

Yeah, you would have to be quite lucky to score a wound if you used just the King of the Dead, 1/6. However, use a spear and it drops to 1/3; use two pikes and it drops to 1/2; if you used two pikes and trapped the Balrog the odds would drop all the way to 1/1. :)

Yes, but to have pikes you would have to have either Gg or MaAoDA. Also the balrog would easily be able to kill the king of the dead before the balrog had lost a fight. I think Rumil would be more reliable.

This is simply fighting fire with fire (literally). If fighting the balrog with a dragon, a lot of the advantage will be purely in dice rolls. This gives you an OK advantage to beat the balrog but the balrog will still be wounding the dragon on 3+ (unless it has tough hide) and there's a fair chance it will run away after every wound.

The Dragon doesn't need to even fight the Balrog in CC to one hit KO him if he has breathe fire.

Yes, in my opinion a dragon with breathe fire is the best option. Still doesnt make sense how the Balrog could die from fire, when he is on fire himself anyway. :?

QFT

A Dragon is of no use to someone who uses a Gondor force.

Thankyou! my point exactly.
And I don't understand why you would use a dragon to beat a balrog. That's like using King elessar to beat boromir captain of the white tower. :?

And what help will the Ghostbusters be in taking down something that isn't a ghost?

Well Balrog is a spirit/ghost

Demon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In religion and mythology, occultism and folklore, a demon (or daemon, daimon; from Greek δαίμων daimôn) is a supernatural being that is generally described as a malevolent spirit; however, the original neutral connotations of the Greek word daimon does not carry the negative ones that were later projected onto it, as Christianity spread.

So go Ghostbusters! 8)

in small games a balrog can b easily dealt with unless the player is quite cunning in himself i use a balrog myself generaly feeding it one model at a time whilst u deal with the other 100pts of models in a 500pt game of corse then deal with the balrog in its own right weight of number and decent rolls will bring it down in larger forces artilery is the best bet as using monsters against can be problematic as they can be sepreated and slowed in the same way feeding thenm a single model and any smart player will accompany the balrog with 2 or 3 bat swarms wich will mean you wwill need ranged weapons as charging the bats alows the barog to select his targets and if a hero gets caguth by the balrog whilst fighting bats then say buh bye to ure hero dragons also are dealt with in many of the same ways so takin a dragon against the balrog even with a breath fire is worthless against a decent player just thought id give an example as to why elroses artillery option is the best choice

A balrog really doesn`t have a weakness
Actually it has - its missing fate makes it vulnerable for siege engines that autokill when wounded.

my brother uses a balrog EVERY game, along with some gobbos. i find the best thing to do is kill all the warriors first (he won't have too many with a balrog in his army) and feed the big B one stupid man of numenor each turn. then... MOB IT with absolutely everything you have left, and use 2 handed weapons if you can. if it loses just a couple of combats, it will start to die quickly. DON'T shoot at it, its a waste of little plastic arrows. concentrate archers on warriors so that you can beat them easily when it comes to combat, thus preserving troops for the inevitable balrog vs everything fight.

oh, and as has been said, Rumil would be good.

ill say again feeding the balrog a single model only works with an unexperienced player who lets there big beastie wander the battlefield alone because hes o so powerful a balrog with decent support units is neigh unstoppable unless using artillery (which come it hows gondor woudla tried to deal with it if it had been a pelenor)

im not sure of rumil rules tbh but but in the case of characters being sent against it how would rumil fare in combat at half fight value
