Have you considered the Tainted in either of these armies;

a) An army of LoME-era Mahud, as they have Warrior Pride not Standfast, the Tainted is more effective with them.

b) An all Fell Beast army, in which the Tainted seperates from the main group, and only moves into battle near the end.

a) is redundant now, even then I'd have preferred the shadowlord to stop elf shooting.

b) I have played against and with fellbeast armies. Your no1 goal is to kill the heroes, then the warriors will run away.

At 700pts you'd have:

Khamul on fellbeast (f6 to deal with elves)
Dark Marshall on Fellbeast (f6 to deal with elves)
Undying on Fellbeast (magical firepower and general)
WK 3/18/3 on Fellbeast (Good magic and might store)

At 1000pts I'd go for:

Khamul on Fellbeast
Dark Marshall on Fellbeast
Undying on Fellbeast
Betrayer on Fellbeast
Knight of Umbar on Fellbeast
WK 3/11/2 on fellbeast

The Tainted doesn't have a place in an all fellbeast force. His special rules don't fit with the way the force plays. Cancelling heroics would be nice but you should really be out of their charge range anyway or at least have 1/2 in charge range with the intention for the rest to fly in and kill.

If he had 2/14/2, he would probably be good. If Seeping Decay worked on a 1/3 or 1/2 basis, he would be amazing. But alas, neither are true.

Yes, for that, I saidf don't put the Tainted anywhere near the other until the battle is nearing completion.

And you can still play LoME if you want to.

Though he is still the weakest choice.

Also, I rate Khamul lower than you do, even including fell beast.
