I still dont get why people reckon Eastern Realms are better than Numenor?

Eastern realms have to pay points to be F4, have mostly mediocre heroes, and cost a ton of points for EVERYTHING

NUmenor are F4, with F5 captains, they have Elendil and Isildur who are great and are relatively cheap

Eastern Realms may have to pay more for fight 4, but it comes with D6 and C4 as well, with the option for pikes. Plus, Dragon Knights are awesome, Shamans can keep people alive and they can have 50% bows.

50% bows for a weak bow army (S2, 4+ shoot)... smeh
Dragon knights would be awesome if they were not indi heroes
Pikes... high points costs means that a good player can make these pikes into glorified spearmen.

*shrug*

Have you ever used an Easterling army? They're great, and Kataphracts are pretty sweet.

Yes I have the remains of one and my doubles partner of years gone by was an easterlings player.

Kataphracts are over pointed and hold only small attacking powers. Something which is very important for cavalry. Cavalry which cannot seriously hurt your enemy on the charge is pointless, especially without bows.
D6 riding D5 is not easy to kill but if you are having to burn might to keep the charge then you need the charge to be killing people.
Axes just make the kataphract even more dead.

Generally I would agree with you but I suspect the Master of Lake Town and Alfred can get the best out of them.

Actually just having re read the rules, hes actually much more limited than I first thought! H might be able to on occasion bring out the best but, hes going to be quite a risky and random character, though very entertaining!

Master of Lake Town makes people F4 if needed and Alfred gives him more might back.

It might not have punch but it has numbers like crazy[/quote]

Well he can increase any Lake town guard or Guard captains f by +1 if he spends a single might point! This can result in therefore in a F5 with the captains. However he can do this once per go and not en masse, also its really not that impressive particularly when compared to the effects on an heroic action for the same cost in might. To keep doing it he really needs Alfred within 6", and every turn in six Alfred will let him down massively.

As a force they are comparable to Arnor but with one decent hero and a special combo of two very dubious characters that in no way live up to the effects of Malbeth the Seer! I still see them spanking a Shire force if used correctly, particularly with Stephen Fry calling heroic combats contstantly!

All for the thrilling price of £25 for 10 models.

Don't wanna risk cursing us, but given the size of the sculpts (no cape, etc, compare to Warriors of Dale), I could see these being released in boxes of 12.

They do look laughably fun to play though, regardless.

The war priests are quite good, and the captains are cheap, the 10pts difference is quite importants, plus Amdur is very good, being able to take on the likes of Isildur and most elven heros whilst boosting your warriors.

Narsil wins Elendil a LOT of heroic fights and they do not have anything above F5 to stand up to him and Isildur!

Amdur can take on Isildur, Elendile yes is powerful, but very expensive, and Khamul can use his magic on him. I play both so I can see both sides, they each have their strong points and weakpoints.

Well for one, amdur and khandish kings both have F6, and khamul can boost his to 6 using a will, no biggie there.
