Post subject:  Kings of men...

Hey everybody,

I was flipping through the Kingdoms of Men book and I realized something with Arnor, why aren't Kings of men in the Arnor army list? I know there was definately other kings than just Arvedui. I could definately ally them but they wouldn't be able to lead warbands. I want something cheaper than Arvedui but also Arnor king-ish. so do you guys think it's appropriate as a house rule to make Kings of men be in the Arnor list?

Thanks all and God bless! :)

They were also left out of the Rohan section. I would allow it, personally but limit you to wargear that a Captain of Arnor has/ can have. Ie a shield or heavy armour, but no horse options and no lance.

ok, awesome. I think that is a good idea as Arnor has no cavalry troops

Kings of Men was a euphemism for Numenorians. I agree it could have applied to Arnor, but the Numenorian line died out more quickly there. It wouldn't have applied to Rohan.

I can see no reason why you couldn't house rule it as you said there were other kings of Arnor and it's not like the King of Men stats are overpowered so no one would really care if you explained why you did it. If you don'y want to say he is a King then maybe Commander of Arnor or maybe head of the royal guard would be fitting title

The Kings of Men models were based on the nine men given the Nine Rings of Power in the Fellowship prologue. As such, it would contain Numenoreans and Easterlings, canonically.

The "Riders of Eorl" and "Host of the Hammerhand" lists included the King of Men profile in LoMe.

While the title means Numenoreans, the stats were originally meant to be for men who also happened to kings of their respective people.
