In the Hobbit rulebook it says that when a model bashes that they roll a single die and add their strength and their opponent does the same. And if the attacker wins this then his opponent is knocked down. But here's the part I'm unsure about

Example: Thorin and two Grimhammers are in combat with an Orc Captain, both Grimhammers opt to bash and their side wins combat. Do they:

A) both roll at once and each compare scores against the Captain?

B) roll only one at a time and resolve each bash separately? (So if the first attempt fails you then go on to bash number two with the Orc rolling again and comparing his new score against the second Dwarf).

C) Only make 1 bash attempt per combat. The wording makes this unclear to me

Also a "house rule" idea: if the above scenario played out wouldn't it make sense to combine the Dwarf scores? As you have in effect double the force knocking you down. Just an idea

Option B would be correct.

Option A - No, because you have to resist everything else individually like magic, wounds etc.

Option C - No, everyone gets to use their special strikes. It does say "a" model, but it is referring to a model specifically with a hammer/mace/maul.

I have never seen bash used, but it makes a lot more sense to me now and could be quite an effective tool for hero killing. You should choose to resolve the bash first as you could then get extra attacks for another model in the fight - every other special strike has its effects resolved that turn, so I don't see why it wouldn't be permitted.

I would add that it would also NOT be right to swap the second Dwarf's attack if the first one managed to Bash successfully. If you call your attacks in advance you can't change them even based on the results.
