I know every man and his dog have had a crack at a Lurtz profile (well who wouldn't given the existing one) so here is my 5 cents for what it's worth.

Lurtz
Same stat line except where noted below. Add these 2 special rules,

Shield of Isengard: Lurtz is especially gifted with the use of the special shields of Isengard uruk-hai. He still gains the +1 defence even when carrying his bow (boosting his d to 6). He may also deliver a single strike if he wins a combat when shielding. Furthermore he may also use his shield as a throwing weapon when on the charge.

Uruk Hai Bow: Uruk-hai do not use the puny bows of the inferior orc. Lurt’s bow counts as a long bow (strength 3, range 24”) . Any uruk-hai scouts in the same force as Lurtz may also upgrade to uruk hai bows for +1 point per model.

Points: I'm no expert on points but I'd cost him at about 70.

I like the scout bow upgrade option as an alternative to Mauhurs marauders

I don't know if I like the idea of Uruks with Elf bows I think they should have normal bows instead of Orc bows in their normal options and I think Lurtz should also have a normal bow.

In regards to Lurtz I've always thought he should have the +1 defense for the shield but I don't like the throwing weapon bit just because the idea of him throwing his shield multiple times in one action scene/battle is a bit silly IMO as he would have to retrieve it every time or bring multiple shields. I would like Lurtz to have either the Lethal Aim of Narzug or Expert Aim for 2 shots a turn and a normal bow and make his shoot value 3+ and I'm cost him at 65 or 70 as well.

Guys, at the beginning I too was a supporter of "super-archer" Lurtz. But, honestly, I looked back at the scene and he was not as impressive as I remembered. He's a better fighter than archer: all his shoot are pretty much average.

He always took his time to shoot, carefull taking aim to the big target. Still, he needed several hits to kill Boromir who was wide open and without a shield.
Better then the average orc? Yeah. But nothing special.

I'd give him a rule to gain benefit from the shield and a third attack. That would make him a beast.

F6 D6 would sort all his issues out in my opinion

Really Steve fight 6? I think he should still have five. I would say by watching the scene against Aragorn Lurtz fought a might less Aragorn and used his might to try to equal him in combat.

But I digress.

I think Lurtz with defense 6 and Narzugs special rule would be perfect personally.

Ye maybe F6 is a little high, but only compared to the fact Aragorn is F6 and that itself is too low.
Aragorn should be F7 and then am happy with Lurtz being F6

Yeah I think there should be an overhaul I agree on that. The models keep getting more advanced.

yeah i'd like to see a better balance between characterisation and weighting of points.

With Lurtz here, his points as written are ok, but the character of the model is wrong.
