If so, tell me your experience. I dont see people use em that often, but I do.

Theyre not good at much, but their special rule is valuable. In a 750 pt game the other day I believe I saved 4 points of might and we called the game early...I could have saved probably 6.

They're probably only of much use if you plan on taking a mostly hero force to combo them with. If you shoved one in with say, eight Morannon Orc Captains/Captain of the Black Guard, you could expend an awful lot of might quickly and still claim it back.

Can you use the taskmaster on a free point of might?
Like for example Bolg gets mighty hero and calls a heroic combat. If the taskmaster toll succeeds, does that mean that he hasn't used up his free point and gets another one later in the turn?

I don't think so, it almost certainly considers only the ones included in his basic profile

The rule says 'attempted heroic action'. Also it says the action is free.

It doesn't say might from his store....so to me, that means the free point of might should be able to be used again later.
I couldn't make a ruling against it at a tournament I run unless I hear from some of the rules guys on this site.

@shapore....

The taskmaster profile doesn't say that....in fact Bolgs rule didn't exist till after taskmaster rules were already written.

Also Bolgs rule says he can spend might without depleting his role. Nothing specifically about it being free.

Sorry, i had forgotten about Bolg's rule! (i shall be more careful next time) I said so because i got to fight an opponent who had one of them only once, and we had thought that it wouldn't count with the free might point per turn, that's all. On a sidenote.... i really hope not, but their effect isn't cumulative, right? I mean, if Bolg were to be in range of two taskmasters at once, could he roll two dies to check wether or not his might point could still be used?

Oh my god I did not even think of this. The rule says each time an evil hero is within six inches of a him you roll dice and see if there is a need to expend might. I can also see this being abused because according to the rule it doesn't say once per turn.

Correction on that. It says each time a Hero calls a Heroic Action, then roll a D6. It does not apply to Might spent normally.

Also it is for each time as you read it. So every hero that calls a Heroic Action around him gets to roll.

If you look at the post before me I was responding to him, and paraphrasing part of the rule as my response. I absolutely understand the full use of the rule as I was the one who made the topic lol.

What you saw is maybe a confusing response to the Bolg matter.

I love Taskmasters, but it depends on the army. I will take one if my army includes a big combat hero or two since it means (hopefully) more heroic combats. To broaden that, any hero who really depends on his/her/its might, so someone who has to channel a spell, a hero that needs to have movement advantages, anything like that.

I do remember a specific game where he helped my Undying cast channeled Black Dart on Gil Galad like three times and kill him. There will be lots of games where he doesn't earn his points back, but it balances because some games you just never lose a point of might.

Can be very good for an army without any shooting, who needs to get close and "up in the face" of their opponents. Let it rip with Heroic Marches and hope you roll plenty of 4+ Might saves :D
