Lots of fantastic entries here! I really like MacGothmogs, its really creepy!

I am posting this here, It would have been my entry, but I didn't remember to take an unpainted picture, so feel free to dismiss this! Plus I think I may have misread the focus of the competition because I thought it was a Barry White contest. (for those who don't know who Barry White is, look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_White) I only realised this too late and as such I painted my barrow wight in a suit with a microphone!! DOH!

But its the first mini I have started and finished in years :)

Thanks

Maybe not the best angle but just waiting for the green stuff to cure then I've only got a little bit more sculpting to do to fix up a few rough patches but I'm a lot happier with the results this time.
Can't wait to get on to painting him!

Another quick update.

Not much to do now, finished green-stuffing to the best of my ability, will just clean up the messy bits. Here's some pics of him on his base, just need to paint the rim. Comments please.

P.S. Any tips on how to reattach a broken sword?! I'm afraid all that hacking took its toll on the finer appendages  !

Pinky... nice job... it's gonna look super I'm sure. Great job on the base by the way... creative and earthy... a great show base...

Um, swords... golly, the small weapons I find in plastic can hold with a bit of super glue, I've done this recently with some shipped ebay items that swords broke during shipment. However, with metal... I dunno... depends on the piece for me, but I use a 1/32 bit to drill in out and a straight pin (yes, the kind used by a tailor or seamstress) cut at the right length, then super glue.... gotta get the pin holes perfectly matched or you'll have to putty some to clean up the join...

I don't know if I have time to finish it, but there are still a few days left.

Excellent base Pinky Beecroft (though the sand could do with one more drybrush/highlight) and nice work with the putty! :yay:

@ nosce,   Well, I like it, though I do believe you did indeed misinterpret the competition. I really like the colours you used, the purple tie is ace!

@ pinky, I am liking this conversion a lot more than the other one, it is look awesome. I agree that the base could do with one more dry brush, but the overall idea is very good. :yay: 8)

@ valpas, I hope you find the time to paint it up, the more the merrier. :D

Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate them.

Here's my final submission, after a lot of cursing :-X , I think I'm finally done.

Don't know what I was trying to achieve on the metal parts but I wanted to give just a hint of metal so I washed over it with very dilute white, it looks a bit flat in the pictures but in real life it looks OK.

It has been quite an interesting experience to say the least! I've learnt quite a few lessons I think:
1. Don't bite off more than you can chew!
2. I'm very good at destroying things, not so good at putting them back together!
3. Seriously though I learnt a lot about how putty works and how to approach sculpting.

Overall I'm fairly happy though for next months challenge I might take it a bit easier, I don't think Dave will appreciate me hacking one of his tree giants to pieces :P
Comments are appreciated.
Cheers,
Pinky

P.S. I realised after taking the pics that I forgot to paint the rim on the base, not sure if you can tell from the pics but it's been fixed now.

Errr... just though I'd add some pics against a darker background, might be able to see it better.

Fantastic conversion Pinky Beercroft! And very nice paintjob!
Hope you have an article for him in progress!? :P

edit: Now that I think of it... New Line made him different from the other warriors by giving him a coloured cape (kinda red...). Dunno if you plan to put in some accents related to that?

Have you been looking at my other posts?!

Cheers mate, re: red cloak, I was thinking about it but didn't want to push my luck when I was happy with him, though I may still do it if I feel up to it.

That's one Buckland Brewer who can't keep his mid off his brew!

Great work, Andrew! The sculpting looks very good, and blends the two miniatures very smoothly. I second the idea of an article on this conversion, it'd be a great addition to the library! 8)

I really like the soft and pale green you have used, it is green but not the iridescent green of GW's version. 8) :yay:

Yeah, I didn't want a glow in the dark model, I wanted him to appear more ethereal and ghostly, more like their appearance in the films. I used the green wash with a bit of blue wash added to make an aqua sort of colour and heavily diluted it, soaked the mini in it (not literally!) then re-highlighted it in white.
