Wow nice ring. I like your goblin king but can you zoom in the figures? It's a shame because I cannot make out a lot of their details and I am sure they are worth looking at. (I really liked your Uruk xbowmen from your older post).

Man now I really want to paint and start my own WIP thread...

Fantastic goblin king! I love the mean/angry look in his face. And your painted eyes add a lot to that.

try rightclick on the image and then "show image" :)

I grew tired of painting goblins, so I painted my eagles.

Wow! That's some pretty cool variety in there! I love the one with the big white patter, looks very natural! Well done Reto!

Wow, those eagles look great - lovely work!

Do you mind me asking what colours/techniques you used? I'm about to start my own Hobbit eagles in a week or two and am trying to assimilate as many different opinions as possible!

Keep up the good work

To be honest I was inspired by another member of this sites eagles, but forgot his name.
I used scorched brown for the body and parts of the feathers;
and a drybrush of bestial brown.
For the first eagle I painted the rest of the feathers white and and a brown ink. At least 3layers of white and ink.

Second eagle, for the midwings I used scab red and a drybrush of mephiston red.
And the last part of the wings bestial brown with another highlight of a light brown color and a second one of white.

At last I have some time to paint.
I finished my goblin army, three full warbands:

I also tried painting Gandalf with the layering technique. The result is not bad, but not good either. Comments and critics are very welcome :)

Great Goblin Army!

Good start with the layering technique, just keep practising. I look really good for the first time!

I finished some more models. So Bilbo: I like really like how his coat turned out. I used once more the layering technique. Sadly I can't take better pictures, there is just not enough light in the room.

I was afraid for Dwalin after some basecoats, but eventually he turned out ok, I think.

And for Thorin, I don't know. I'me disappointed by him. His face just wouldn't work for my, I tried to ajust the eyes a few times but I just can't get it right. Also the layering of the tunique could much better.

So C&C please :)
