I think you are doing very good with these. On the replication matter, have you thought about casting the head? This way you can make a dozen heads and of course change beards and even mouth expressions on each individual one but be sure that the helms are all exactly the same. I do understand that you want to hone your skills so that you can replicate it and practice will do that, but just a suggestions (often on pro sculpts I will see heads that look like they were cast in plastic or resin on fresh Green bodies with fresh green hair (even on GW sculpts when a rare Green version is shown).

An interesting idea. Especially since these guys are basic line troops, I do feel like I'm putting in more time worrying about the helmets as opposed to the rest of the miniature.
I have liquid silicone and resin so maybe this is my motivating opportunity to put it into use.
Should do since the thought & research into doing my own casts has been constant. Lol

What I think I'll do is finish some of the current sculpts and then go about maybe doing helmets without faces an maybe torsos, then cast a few bunches of them to work on.
Then could get a more professional look to my finished sculpts, so thanks for the heads up!

Sorry for the very long update. Been doing full time the last 5 weeks so had barely anytime to do any sculpting.
But I took Sithious's advice and decided to make accurate sculpts of a head/helmet with no face that I can sculpt in at a later date after moulding an casting.
Two pairs of legs in different poses that I plan moulding an casting too.
Also an arm attached to a spear.
In the next few days I am getting round to trying my hand at moulding/casting since I have more free time for now.

In the meantime, here is some pics from my Hudl2 tablets can to show you.

These are wonderful! I am truly envious of hobbyists that can sculpt. I am never happy with my attempts.

Thanks guys! It feels good to get back into this project, I really want to get some mutliposed versions of these guys moulded an cast. Then hopefully more if my casting "noob" skills are up to it. Lol
But I'd really have a go of trying similar projects yourselves, its amazing what levels you can advance to after just over two years.
Think I'll have some more progress pics up within the next few days to see how things have gotten on.

Super sculpting work! Well done.
I know it will be a while, but I'm really looking forward to seeing some of these sculpts completed. No pressure.
