Indeed, but that's why it's not for goblin town. :P This is for moria, and thus is possibly an old dwarf platform that has been captured and used by the goblins. Hence the nice square-ness.

It looks great. The rope work really adds to it.

Your Goblin Town is coming along nicely. 8)

Those cavalry are painted really well too, realistically toned an' all but could you have used a different colour for the trouser legs?

Yep, I thought of that last night. I think I will paint their trousers a different colour on the next guys to mix things up a bit. Thanks for the idea though. :)

I will have an update sometime today, I've been working on some more goblin scenery.

So here's what I've been working on, a suspension bridge. The yellow is ribbon, so the bridge is actually flexible! I want this to be a modular piece. That way I can move the bridge around and have it in between whatever two scenery pieces I want. But, this means the ends will need to be weighted. Any suggestions on how to do this? I'm thinking rocky outcrops on either side of the bridge ends. I'll have to hide something heavy in the rocks somehow....

Any other ideas on how to weight don the bridge ends, and still have it look nice?

You could use blue tac, or some clamps disguised as rocks...

I'm loving this so far. Please keep posting updates on this until it is done as something similar would really suit my Arnor board (which I am planning at the moment).

Will models stand on it if it is flexible?

Yes, if the ends are heavy enough.

I've been making these sort of things recently too, and a flexible rope bridge is not practical, I think it looks cool but it could end up in broken models
If you can try make it look flexible but actually keep it quite rigid, you would have some very cool and practical piece of scenery

This is what I've come to. I'll try and stiffen it up, while keeping a bit of a bow in the middle.

If you use stiff wire instead of flexible ribbon you could bend a bow in it yet it would be firm enough to stand alone and support minis.

:D Thanks for the idea, I'll try that out yet.

Lots more stuff done today. First off, I fixed the bridge. It doesn't bend now, but it can support figures! I also made a couple of walkway type things. And finally, the start of a large, flat, platform.

Grungehog, indeed. I looked at that before, but didn't notice the walkways. :)

Update time. I finished off the large platform, though I may add more small details. I also finished off a smaller platform, and am working on a third. I made a third narrow walkway, and two wider ones. I also made a second suspension bridge, with wire. It worked very well imho. I think I'll have some skulls or something hanging off the ahndrail of the second bridge, so it's not quite finished. Oh yes, and I also made up some torches. There'll be unlit ones lying around, as well as some lit ones.

The large platform is 26cm/20cm, the small is 11cm/15cm.
I stuck a 25mm base in some of the pictures so you can get an idea of the scale.

Another thing ideal for arnor as the bridges would have been quick and easy to build

Looking great! These are going into the 'must do' list for sure.

Do it. They are really easy and quite quick to make up.

UNKNOWN wrote:

I started off converting plastic rangers to rangers of the north. Then I did one or two uruk-hai conversions, and then I started on my goblins. I did durburz, a shaman, three captains, and 25-ish prowlers. Speaking of conversion I have done a little more on suladan. Not really enough to show, but he is still slowly progressing. :)

I can post up a couple of pictures of the ranger conversions, (they're quite bad) so you can see where I started, if you want me to?

I have a large update. I finished off all the terrain that I had made so far. I took lots of pictures of a possible set up. This is all my moria/goblin town style terrain. The table is 5.5' by 3.5', so the terrain could easily fill a 6/4 table nicely. I am making three more thin walkways; a couple of them twice the length of the ones I have now. And then that will be good. (I only have so much space. )

This was my first time trying osl, it isn't great, but it's good enough for the terrain. I wanted to go for a very dark, oily, smoking flame for the torches.

(Sorry for the flash in some of the pictures)
