I'm delighted to see this is still in progress. The completion is eagerly awaited.

A big stack of white plaster blocks does not make a very interesting update. But I am working on the Moria project.

The new green mold will speed this project. I will need to cast it 24 times but it has lots of detail parts that will help me along with several projects.

stunning works as always Charles, great to see your still working on it. How many pieces does this disassemble into?

Must be quite a heavy piece, did you choose plaster for the hirst bricks?
I'm going home at the end of this week so I'm looking forward to all the festive treats. Spent most of this holiday working at Fosters + Partners in their modelmaking department. They have some of the most astounding work being produced in there. I'm really tempted to start working on some Lake town buildings over the christmas break after watching the films. Hope you have a good Christmas with the family.

Moria - stunning already and more to come... as well as being a stupendous setting for games, it would also be a magnificent setting for macrophotography and more general close-ups of minis from the appropriate factions - Fellowship, goblins, Azog's orcs, Durinsbane, dwarves and Gollum. Get some atmospheric lighting, and of course with digital cameras, you can take as many images as you want until you get those perfect versions that do the whole thing justice. Maybe a little photoshopping (flames and some smoke mostly) for the final flourish.

First, Thanks every one for the nice comments.
I do not know how much it weighs. It is cast from Light weight Hydrocal over MDF
I purchased a mist Maker to see if I can get a mist/smoke effect with out dry ice. One of the Model Railroad smoke makers may work better. I put the LEDs on hold until I make a stand for the model.
The new mold has turned out well. It has been cold so I have only made two cast so far.

The new custom mold lets me cast one long column and one half column and two stair sections each time I use it. The pink mold I made for Mike has 12 skull piles on it I am going to use to detail goblin town an the necromancers fortress. I am going to make some ruined stair cases for The Hill Of Sorcery. See page 197 of Chronicles III for what I have in mind.

I think the new film has set your mind racing with new projects. I think you may need to be careful and not get over-run with project after project !!!
All joking aside this is a wonderful project that is thought out very well. I love the use of your own moods to develop this and is something we can all take inspiration from.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Just looked it up, with your previous projects this is going to look very good, are you going to do the outside walls like on page 196?

I am going to do a small part of it. I also like page 200.The bridge on 194 and 195 looks good too. I will probably cut a prototype from Plywood like the Warhammer bridge.

I will add details to the Warhammer Bridge tomorrow.

You are welcome. I am actually finishing up the casting for Balin's Tomb and the Great Halls. The D&D/Path Finder group has joined in to help out with casting so that has fueled my enthusiasm.

I will be able to finish some interesting build ups with some of the new custom molds. The last one just fell over

That looks great! I love the statues. Those bricks also look great, I should really get my hands on some of those moulds sometime.

Is the setting for these pieces still Moria by the way? Or will it be Dol Guldur themed?
