well heres what ive done, i made this ages ago but i couldnt be bothered to upload the pics
i was kind of bored and didnt know what to do with the bricks i got from Drumtastic and so decided to build this whuch turned out pretty nice, it's nowhere near finished though, i have a LOT more painting and strange detail to add... but hey! im still doing SOMETHING :P
and thats what i needed that wood for :D the scaffolding 8)
well anyways this is just to show Drum that you CAN make a model with only 18 (if i remember correctly) bricks ;)

i made this about a month ago but never got to finish it  but since Drum is making his i might aswell go and work on my little 'worksite'

hello 8) my fellow wargamers, welcome again to my humble little post. after taking a long break from making anything or painting any models  i decided to do something with my free time.
here are some of my current projects i'm working on and one finished one that i started some time ago.
this time i have made some futuristic terrain just to try something different and something that is rather simple.

(i hope the pics work)

this the latest one i've done Image

this is one of the futuristic ruins im doing right now

and this is what it should look like when it's done
Image

this is just a little 'something' i decided to make, it is meant to be a ork outpost/watchtower

tell me what you guys think, any feedback would be much appreciated! :-D

Your figures and scenery are top class. Give yourself a pat on the back. ;)

Great work on the scenery. The rust effect on the ork outpost is great as well, just add some freehand WAAAAAGHS! to the side and your ready to go

@GuardianoftheCitadel thanks a lot mate, i shall do just that :-D

@Cyndra the Grey 8) yeah i was going to do that at the end, i might do that on that extension part on the large sheet of 'metal'
there is also still plenty of detail to work on and since it is my favourite part of model making- adding little detail that no one really pays attention to, i will be having a lot of fun doing so :D

thanks guys!

Nice ruins, you're very good at terrain making. I really like the work site. What kind of wood did you use on the structures? Did you just snap the pieces apart? The rough edges look nice, I'm just wondering how you did it.

thanks very much! :D
the wood is just some balsa i had lying around. I often cut it to size and then cut small random bits off to get that old battered effect, I mostly use that for fantasy orianted things but with that ork watchtower i was being quite lazy and just snapped the wood into small bits- it was meant to represent the orks just trying to grab as much random stuff together as possible and adding it to their buildings.

Post subject:  Re: polar's WiP

hello there!

i have just started on another little piece. 8) I think it will be some kind of a VERY old (ruined, once again) gondorian tower? Or just a tower in general. i dont have a plan as such but i do have an idea of what i want it to look like.

Here's the start anywhoo. first i started by cutting out a simple base of out insulation polystyrene stuff. It was too thick to use just like that with trimmed edges to i pretty much shaved the sides off to make less of a steep hill. I didnt really like that look and so decided to hack away at it with a steel rule. that made it much nicer and made ot look uneven and waaaaaay more realistic :D

Image

Then i decided to use some hirst arts blocks for the main structure and cut them into the base to represent foundations it would've had ( a lot stronger than mine but... :P )

Now i have to wait for the glue to dry and i can get back to work :D

good start, make sure the sides of the hill aren't too steep otherwise it's a pain for models.

Fantastic work here polarbird!
Looking forward to see the progress on this one!
I'm sure the glue must be dry by now, so go on and keep us up-to-date :)

Post subject:  Re: polar's WiP

ok here's the next mini-update

i haven't really done much because i was away for two days. anywhoo i only glued two more layers of the hirst arts block and realised that i need to make myself some more because im almost out
im actually slightly annoyed because no matter how hard i try the circular tower is never, ever perfectly round :o but it doesnt matter that much as the top will be covered so it won't be as obvious 8)

it isn't any different but it's still an update :P and it gives me something to do while waiting for the glue to dry... again

well if you want a perfect circle you could draw a plan using a compass and a sharp pencil on some cardboard, cut it out and then glue the bricks to it.

Anyway, the terrain's looking pretty sweet. :)

Post subject:  Re: polar's WiP

thats a good idea :D i'll be sure to do that next time i make a round tower 8) but this one isn't meant to be perfectly round and you'll se why once i've done a bit more
