Been wanting to do a WIP for ages now, but always have a trouble with photos. I'm no techno geek, but I think I've solved it. So here, we have one photo: Galadriel. I am also working on Lothlorien and Rivendell (huge armies for them both awaiting the brush) and I've got a small Numenorian army to paint, and a few random models such as Gandalf, Halbarad and Eowyn.

For those that remember a previous post of mine, I am still going to do the Laketown WIP. That'll be seperate, as it's a huge project I'm planning. Just gotta wait on the supplies.

Hopefully the pic has appeared. I sprayed her Skull White, then mixed Lahmian Medium, the Fang and Asurmen Blue and gave her a cohesant wash. I will slowly build up a few layers of light grey to pure white, then do her skin in a pale tone.

What do you all think? Comments and criticism are welcome, tips too!

It looks great from what I can see. It may be worth using a piece of card / paper for the backdrop so we can see it a bit clearer. Also, if you crop the image it can bring us some close up views.

WIP in progress would mean work in progress in progress.

Thanks for the tips. Hopefully these images are better quality, although I've got a bad light for lighting at the moment.

Closer and clearer view of Galadriel. Made no progress since first image, but will do now.

Back view of her robes.

A sneak peek at the Numenorians. Guy at the front is my test model, and I think he's looking good.

If you only have a single light, use a sheet of while paper as a reflector to throw light back into the shadows.
I like the Numenoreans - I wish more were available. After all, The Last Alliance fought bigger battles than anything seen in the Third Age.

Cool, thanks for the tip. I'll try that on my next picture.

That test model is beautifully painted, I think.

Thanks for your comments guys. So I'm packing in for the night now, but I'll continue tomorrow. Got some progress on Galadriel, and a clearer image of my Numenor warrior.

Image

I think she needs a final highlight on her robes, skin and hair. That'll be done tomorrow, along with her base.

Image

So here's a Numenorian warrior. My test model. Not completely finished, but getting there. I'll finish him tomorrow.

So my job tomorrow will be to finish Galadriel, Numenorian warrior and I want to start work on Halbarad.

Galadriels chest and top of left hand area look highlighted enough to me. Just a few little touches though. Look at her from directly above and you will see the points that need a little touch.
I think you've just about nailed the face and any further highlights may spoil your good work, be careful and highlight the very extremes like the tip of the nose and tips of her fingers.

So over the past few days, I've been assembling my newly arrived miniatures, spilling superglue, cutting my fingers and filling gaps, some huge gaps (yes, I'm looking at you Sauron the Necromancer here).

Anyway, I have manged to make progress on Halbarad, complete Galadriel and Pippin, and re-base some miniatures.

So here's Halbarad:
Image

I've done his boots, sword, skin and chainmail. Just got to layer highlights the cloak, do the banner, tunic and quiver, then see what else needs doing.

Image

Here's Pippin!

Image

And Gothmog, an ugly but awesome looking Orc. One of my earliest painted miniatures, and he still beats the painted standard of some of my more recently painted ones. He must have been like my first or second attempt at highlighting.

I'm looking forward to finishing Halbarad, mounted Glorfindel, The Necromancer and Celeborn, recieving Tauriel and Treebeard in the post and starting work on Laketown. It's going to be a busy month, and if I'm going to be entering the two competitions this month too (sculpting and monsters), well let's just say it will be a busy month. All that from the hobby, along with stuff outside creative writing, acting work, a photoshoot and college. I'm looking forward to it all :-D

Halbarad is painting up very nicely, best of luck with the competitions.

So I've been busy still over the past few days, and finally started work on Lake-Town! :-D I've got pretty much all the supplies. I am starting with Bard's house, as that will be a centrepiece. Below, you'll get to see a bit of the structure.

Image
My desk is a mess. I'll upload more of my progress at the end of the day and them put the rest in a separate WIP.

Image
My Treebeard arrived, and so I'm entering him in this months painting challenge instead of Sauron.
