Thanks to the magnificent ukfreddybear and his sculpting skills, my good side "monster" army is almost complete now. Just Radagast to go!

Anyway, the ents are really fun to paint and I highly recommend them over the GW ones!

Here's the Willow Ent:

And the Birch Ent:

All painted pretty quickly with straight out of the pot paints, no colour mixing or anything, so it really is something that anybody can do!

The WIP shots and a TON more photos of both are on the blog...

Both are brilliant, amazing pieces.

I especially like the birch ent. If GW produced something of that high quality & standard I would've made a Fangorn army long ago!

Thanks for sharing :)

At first I took the second ent to be a well converted GW plastic ine as it has certainly similarities, but is more detailed.

Your painting on both of the 'Ents' is very good and realistic, and they look nice with those really cool Eagles. In fact Radagast is the most boring thing in the list unless you converted a mounted version (or wait for the Sylvester McCoy version)

Bite your tongue...GW's Ents have nothing on Dave's Ents!! :P

Oh I don't know, The plastic one is at least a massive improvement on those weird old metal ones. They did miss a trick though I think by not doing more variants.
Great job on these Sim. I'll add them to the customer gallery on MBM when I get five minutes. 8)

Nice Ents :yay: , prefer them to GW ones as well. They look like they catch fire easily lol. Are you going to do a battle report using them soon?

Yup, converting a mounted version - just taking a while as I've had some uni assignments due.

Thanks all for the nice comments. If you've had a squiz at the WIP you'll see that it's really not too hard though so most credit has to go to the sculpt!

The GW ones are okay I guess, but are too specific to use lots of them I thought, also a bit smooth or something. I quite like the roughness of these ones. I quite liked the Treebeard model, but it's awfully expensive and comes with two hobbits I didn't want!

I'm hoping my Radagast won't be too "wrong" I'm not convinced of my sculpting skills to add the necessary cloak bits and stuff, but I'll give it a red hot go!

As for battle reports, probably not for a little while, heading over to New Zealand for a week soon and trying to get ahead of my uni work before then.

Thanks again for the nice words!

Trying to get my friend alan to post a pic of his ENT army, includes all 3 UK freddy's variants, he has 13 ENTs plus Treebeard, a couple of conversions and original GW Ents. :)
We plan to do "March of The ENTS" at the Tower of Orthanc on our Clubs 40th anniversary weekend 27th & 28th October , www.groupnorth.biz , still have 2 more ENT's to complete along with some terrain, will post pics on the event tourney site when over.
