Post subject:  Cavalry Conversions Part 1--Ringlo PIC HEAVY
I had a few WIP shots of this projest up a few months ago. I finally finished the bases and attempted to take better pix of these conversions. This is part one of a 5 part series.
The figures themselves are Fireforge Tuetonic Knights with Ebob heads and pieces from GW, Conquest, Fireforge and WGF various plastic models.

A White dwarf article "The Beacons Are Lit" was the basis for these troops. The aritcle has a short explination concerning the relationship between Dol Amroth and Ringlo Vale. It goes on to say that Ringlo Vale soldiers were trained by the Dol Anroth Knights and that most of the equipment was made in Dol Amroth. I used the Ebob "swan" heads for this reason. I chose the color scheme to pay tribute to the Dol Amroth Knights, but I didn't want them to be exactly the same. I envisioned the Ringlo Knights as a kind of younger brother to the DA Knights.
I should mention that I do not game with these figures, so I am not concerned with point values or any of that stuff. I enjoy the modelling part of the hobby. I think that the bases came out really well.

My photography sucks. Plain and simple. I used PhotoScape to re-size and enhance the photos. Some pix are better than others which is why I left them all in. You can judge for yourself. I hope you enjoy them. Next up is Prince Imrahil's Guard.

Daylight in my opinion is the best light to photograph miniatures although photographing groups of miniatues is difficult. You could crop the pictures down further which may help using photobucket or another image editor.

I like your use of bright colors, yet I believe that they could benefit from additional highlights and the pictures don't do them justice.
But conversion-wise, wow, they remind me of medieval knights from 1300-1400. :) I'd prefer them over the GW ones for my army!

Try placing the minis closer together and moving the camera much closer, preferably on a tripod or find something elae to act as a steadying mechanism (e.g., a chair). Try to frame the pictures so that the minis occupy the bulk of the image. Shift around, try taking images from different angles and don't be afraid to use portrait framing instead of the more common landscape format (turn camera 90 degrees so the long axis is up-down rather than left-right). Experiment! With digital photography, there is no reason why people cannot get some decent images as there is no measurable expense in reshooting even scores of images whereas in the Olden Days of 35mm film, you shot 36 frames, took it to the developer and waited for prints. Then did it again...
The conversions are fine. I agree that the barding is a bit uniform in tone - there should be some shading in the recess/folds and highlights on the ridges and upper areas - it should be subtle. 12 nice heavy cavalry!

The paintig style is what I like. I don't care for the drab style of washing everything with black or brown. Just my personal taste.

Well, that is you. You don't need to use washes, but highlighting/shadows would help a lot. The coulours you used seem to be to thick, a little bit of water could help.

Kinsman, No the paint was not too thick. The figures were painted the way I wanted them to look. When you paint your figures, then you can make them look how you like them.
I like a colorful army. To me they are toys, which is why I don't game. Everyone has their own taste and whatever makes you happy is what you should adhere too.
If you like a different painting style, that's fine with me. To each his own.

Very cool work! Great to see all your fiefs coming together! Fireforge knights look a great investment but I'm just waiting for them to release a foot boxset before taking the plunge. The Ebob heads fit well from what I can see! Great job mate
