Hey folks,

I had no topics yet on the one ring so I thought of starting one.. and as I have some backlog I decided to make a WIP thread that will encourage me to paint more!

I play mostly with my father and but he does not have a lot models.. only some dwarf rangers atm.
I collect dwarves, both Durin's folk and Army of Thror (but I like army of Thror more), Moria and a little bit Rohan.

I have only started to play Lotr SBG/Hobbit SBG since a half year so do not have a lot experience, I hope you can/will help me!!

First some pics of dwarves.(hope the pics will work.. have not posted much pictures yet so..)
These Grim Hammers and Warriors of Erebor are finished, only the bases left.

Half painted.

I also still have some undercoated Warriors of Erebor and Grim Hammers and a box full of Warriors of Erebor in sprues. I am also Working on Thrain and I have a Captain of Erebor ready to be glued.

Then for moria I already painted a lot normale goblins a couple years back when I started the hobby as a 13 year old.
Goblins:

Archers:

Moria Goblins with Spears and Shields:

I use Gundabad Blackshields as captains at the moment as I do not have any captains that look captain-like.
I also have Durburz but not yet painted and a half painted dragon.

Hope you like it and maybe you have some tips for painting? or for basing?
I now see that the pictures aren’t very good so I will make some better ones this week.

Feedback wanted!!

Éomund

Welcome Eomund.
I like what you have done with your dwarves, well painted and a nice colour scheme. I am curious though, when you applied a final glaze to the armour, did you apply a highlight on top ? It appears that you didn't from what I can see on the photos. I think a final highlight on the very highest points will make the difference with these figures.

No I didn't do a final highlight, I will try it this evening!

Extremely crisp painting, :yay: Your Grimhammer are among the very best I've ever seen. I am looking forward to see you base them :).

I have only one criticism to offer regarding your models. The armor of the Goblins is too shinny. In my Gobos I apply a heave layer of dark washes to give them a dark, rusty, and grimy look.

By the way, we collect almost the same armies :).

haha yeah these goblins aren't my best but they are the first miniatures I got and painted so I want them stay like how they are so I can look back on how good/bad I was when I started. If I get new goblins I will make them nicer!

Hope you like!

Also still working on the dragon so maybe tomorrow pictures :-D

I like the two-tone armor on the Grimhammers. The studio models of these are a bit bland, but what you have done really spices them up.

Also, that is a GREAT idea to use Gundabad Blackshields for Captains. They're a little bit larger, with fancier armor and a cape. Perfect Captain material!

yeah and the box is cheaper than the moria command box so for people who don't have a lot money for the hobby it is nice too. And you can see easily who is the captain when playing a game ;)

I love to see how people come up with ideas for taking even a standard mini up a level, whether with paint or conversion of some sort. This is a very neat tweak to the basic paint theme and it adds a lot of impact - the old expression 'A lot of bang for your buck' definitely applies here. Well done!

Awesome grimhammers! Looking forward to the Erebor captain. Do you have the grimhammer captain yet?

No but I think I will buy him too in a few weeks!
What do you guys think of the warriors of erebor? I like them less than the Grim Hammers but what do you guys think?

Good luck on the February challenge; I'll also be participating. I like some of the Erebor Dwarves more that the Grimhammers, and I like the fact that they are not so heavily armored (as most Dwarves are).
