Hello fellow members,

I want to introduce you to my LotR-WIP. I would say eyerybody know what a WIP is so I won't explain it.

Then let us start with my actual topic: Gondolin

I have read the silmarillion nearly three times and I like the High Elves spearmen of GW. I loved them since I first noticed them on the GW-Website.
But I was not able to buy them because they were and actually are not cheap and I had other army projects. So I forgot them for a long time ... till I listened to the silmarillion and the story of Gondolin. And I thought: These would fit perfect to the army of Gondolin :D

So I bought some (I have now a job, so I had enough money) and are painting them as the House of the hammer of wrath. They are smiths and their banner shows a black hammer beating on an ambos on red background.
That leads to a Black-Red paint scheme with iron armor.

In the end 9 elves should be painted and set on a display showing the Nirnaeth Arnoediad - the battle of the thousand tears.

I hope you the best!!

You are starting good, for the robe: you can improve this by adding depth. Generally it is one of the most complex jobs, because you need to smooth the tones, usually by making a technique named blending or wet blending. Search for it in the web. If you find troubles, a mere thing you can do is adding shade under every edge and highlight it above. Happy practicing :)

You've read Silmarillion nearly 3 times !!! Way to heavy for me, only got 1/2 way through.
Interesting project you have going and not a bad start on the painting.

I've almost read the first chapter three times, it's tough going that book, one day (probably when I'm retired) I'll sit down and make a proper effort haha. Nice start, I definitely echo Valadorns words on the cloak, get a couple more layers in their just so it's not such a jarring contrast, metal looks quite smooth though, nice one :)
