How do you base your Harad figures. With sand as if they were in the desert? Or with grass at the battle of Pelennor Fields?

So how do you base your Harad figures?

Depends on what you want, really. :) It might also depend on the kind of gaming board that you usually play on.
I personally based my Harad and Corsair models on sand painted like desert, because I want to make a desert table at some point.

I use sand too, as it looks slightly less absurd if some of them go into the howdah of my Mumak (the brown blends better with the basket-effect than grass would).

I've based all my figures in the same way (sand and grass, brown rims - check my WIP) to ensure continuity. I'd like to do my Moria Goblins in grey for Khazad Dhum, Harad in desert colours etc. but I just feel this gives me the most flexibility. 99% of my games are played on green tables and it allows me to mix and max different factions and still maintain a cohesive army appearance, keeps things nice and tidy.

Just my opinion though, do whatever you want, they're your figures!

Absolutely right! Ask yourself, what are the chances you are going to play on a table with a sand effect?

Personally, I would do sand and some light foliage, it always enhances the miniature.
