That is a good idea :!: The idea of a troll cage or cave is a good idea too.
The Goblin Town supplement from ICE for their old Middle Earth Role Playing (MERP) game is not part of my collection. I don't remember seeing it. I do have some of the others from a late friend's estate. I would be interested in hearing about what you rediscover when you read through it.
Thanks for the input.

Wow, that takes me back a few years. I sold all that stuff a long while ago, now I regret it. It was a truly great set of modules, with amazing maps and awesome art by Angus McBride.

I've held on to most of my gaming stuff over the decades. I always planned on raising my own gaming group in time. 8) I have my 8yr old son and 5yr old daughter playing Stratego and Battleship now. I'll be getting my son on MERP in a couple more years and by then my youngest (3) will be ready for the boardgames. :-D Shape their youthful minds and interests while I can.

My stepson never had any interest. My 10 year old nephew liked Star Wars roll play when he stayed with me while his Mom was deployed. He loved it and played for hours, He had not even seen the LOTR but came around after playing LOTR online. Then he watched the movies and read the Hobbit and was correcting my LOTR pronunciation before his mother got back. LOTR online hooked him.

the one with Peter jackson doing a walkthrough of the Goblin Tunnels? yes that was awesome...posting FB links doesnt usually work though especially when its an exclusive most people will have to sign up to see it. Im a member and couldnt even follow that link even though I just watched it on my profile.

I think my bark parts will work well for goblin town. I was afraid it would look more like a limestone cave. Glad to see part of the set.

I found my ICE book. Goblin-Gate is the name of it ( (c) 1985). I'll look through some of the locations and post a couple ideas from it this weekend.

I took a quick flip thru the ICE Goblin Gate supplemnt. A couple of the areas are actually things we already discussed above but a different take on things and nice to see we're not way off in our thoughts.

Some places that can add interest to a Goblin Town terrain:
1. Warg Gate - in the supplement the main gate from Goblin Town was flanked by two large warg statues, and there was a large Warg Den (basically a sunken area) near the gate.
2. Guard Rooms - have a small chamber near major intersections
3. Barracks - rooms for common Orcs. Lots of them. Basically side chambers. A "kitchen" can be near a few of these as well as a well
4. Bat Roosts
5. Deep roundish pit, basically bottomless or to a deep lake, with a thin bridge over or around the edge. Good choke point like bridge of Khazad Dum
6. Butchery / Kitchen - depends on how gruesome you want to get wtih your modeling.
7. Royal Chamber - large chamber where the Goblin King presides. Can have a sacrificial area near by as well. The GW article also suggested a dueling pit where entertainment for the King could take place.
8. Troll Cave - Trolls are more intelligent (ie Hobbit) and it has a large iron door, firepit, liquor kegs bones and scraps strewn about.
9. Spider pits
10. Slave pits / torture chamber

ICE Goblin Gate supplement

Sounds like some good ideas. I like the #5 idea. I had not thought of #4 & #9.
I was thinking about #10 because of the Elf jail cells.
I would like to here more about the GW article I don't remember that one.
Thanks

Chambers 1, 2, 4 & 7 seem like mush haves. For the bat roost you can build pillars with bats hanging upside down on perches at the top of the pillars.
