Afternoon All!

Can anyone send me some examples & techniques on basing the older and fouler things in the world...as well as orcs & numenorians.

More specifically the harsh barren terrain of Mordor/Gorgoroth

Thanks!

You could get Agrellan Earth technical paint from GW. Paint this over a base and looks like like cracked earth. Perfect for Mordor.

Or you could use weathering pigments to weather the minis a bit and the bases. Like here:

I don't have any examples, but I hope these help. I've used them previously.

Well I go for a reddish borwn colour for my Mordor based armies rather than black/grey and with some "scorched/burnt grass" static grass (this always seems very green in the photos which it isn't):

Thanks guys!

I wasn't sure if I should make a dirt base w sand/stones and then just paint it...

Lets see what I come up with! Deffo need some more textured paints.

I use sharp sand bought in B&Q (let it dry in a tub overnight) and all I do then is wash over it with watered down eshin grey to take the redness out of it. The grass is a mix of army painter tufts and a really yellowy static grass I got from a train shop, can't remember the brand.
