just two suggestions

- not everybody might click on the link on the home page to find out more about the awards. so also on the comp. rules page should be those rules regarding filesize, dimensions, etc.

- the filesize of 128kb at 800x800 px is at detailed images only achievable with a loss in jpg quality. e.g. I just tried to optimize by 800x800px (which at quality of 60, which only a bit more than half... had 230KB) but had to reduce to 600x600 to get a middle jpg quality within filesizerange.
so maybe for the comp. (and hall of fame) galleries an exception could be made as there won't be too many images on the whole anyway, and everybody wants to see good size and good details there, so the filesize could be increased to e.g. 250KB?
what do you others think?

Digitally enhanced images are not permitted. Admin reserve the right to remove from a category any entry they feel has been doctored using a graphics package to significantly enhance it's appearance. NOTE: The removal of coloured backgrounds and slight adjustments of brightness will usually be considered acceptable.

Is putting your image onto a gradient background an enhancement? The mini itself is unaltered.. (took me 6 years of owning photoshop to learn how to turn it on, so using its functions... pah, if you can't paint it, it ain't worth **** :!: )

hi i have a question about the terrain modeling catergory.

i recentcly made a overgrown ruin that, as a beginner, i am quite prowd of. the thing is that the ruin peices came from the games workshop "ruins of middle-earth" box, which i mounted on a base, painted and add follage/grass etc to make it overgrown. Somewhere in the rules i read about the terrain catergory that you can't enter a pre-ordered piece (i think ebobs weathertop was the example used) so does this count as a premade peice? can i enter it?

thx for the help

Hi Timster,

The committee is currently reviewing this issue. As we have stated pre-ordered models cannot be used, but if people add or alter is this a different model. etc We keep getting questions like this.
Hopefully I can get an answer for you over the next couple of days.
In the mean time, post into the competition and if we decide that it is not valid we will remove it. I will make sure the committee do not ban you for this, as you have asked prior to entering.

@ Kalamir, if you e-mail me your image I can alter the filesize no problem Send it as a jpeg and it wont take alot of space and time whilst going through the e-mail network. I can try and insert some text too but I am still learning on that one.

Thanks Tim, but i decided to just forget about it and go with a sinlge image instead of a comibined. Cur helped me alot and got it to well below the file size limit and it still wouldnt work. So i just stopped and pmed Alan also to tell him that i think there is a problem
