Hi Everyone,

It appears that several members are having problems logging into the website. This has happened suddenly and without any maintenance work being done by me, so I am investigating what has gone wrong.

...

A little later, I have found the cause of the problem and believe I have fixed it. So could you try and log in again and let me know if there are any further problems.

Sorry for the hassles guys, but it is related to our wonderful hosting company's recent campaign of hassling us little guys - seems the battle was won but the war is not over.

Ok, try again now.

What happened there?

Same problem as before. The @*&^@@!# at Powweb have disabled the board automatically, but my 'fix' wasn't 100% foolproof. There are evidently a few places where the 'disabled' flag is checked and I missed at least one.

:D :-D I was wondering what had happened. When I tried to log on it just linked me to the index page. :( It is working fine for me now though! :yay: :)

Nothing is foolproof for a sufficiently talented fool

I had ordered my computer to update at the same time; I thought it was all my fault...

Thanks Alan!

I was unable to log in all of Friday, but fine again now. I too thought it was interference from something else (my Flash had gone bonkers too).

Normal service has been resumed... :yay:

Well I don't

but once I log in at a different PC mine forgets the password and logs out, this probaly to forecome two people being busy at the same account

The weird thing was that I logged out and then back in again so I could see the symptoms for myself. But it just worked for me, so I couldn't understand the fuss. But when I got 15 emails and the same number of PMs I figured there was a genuine problem.

5 seconds of looking at the code, and it was obvious - there's a test in there that effectively says 'if (IS_ADMIN) then just work' so I the problem never happened for me.
