Hi all! My playing mates and I have been wondering about how to apply the rule "Extremely hard to kill" from the Balrog/Dragon...

We've got some discrepancies about the free roll you get with a "natural" 6.

¿Is a 5 ajusted to a 6 with might a natural 6?

When you roll again on the table, do you apply both results separatelly or you add the result of the second roll to the first roll? For example: if you get a 6, and then a 5, ¿it counts as an 11 or as a 6 and then, another 6?

A natural 6 is when the die shows a 6. Using might etc would be a unnatural 6.

You apply each result, not add them together. You apply the 6, then roll the next die and add the effects of the first (such as wound markers).

A roll of 5, which made into a 6 with might is a unnatural 6, so the 'special rule' does not apply on this (so it only gains a flesh wound > 1 wound counter).
If you roll a natural 6, you can roll again, but not adding it to the total. So if you roll a 6, and then a 4, the result would be a Flesh wound (1 wound counter), and then a 4 (who becomes a 5 due to the wound counter) and gives another wound counter, which means it gets 2 wound counters in total.
Of course, when you roll 2 natural 6's you can't gain another roll, it says clearly "and applies both results".

So you would need quite allot of wound counters to take such a giant down (obviously), 9 woundcounters in total :p

Oops, I played someone with a Mumak and we thought you added the 6 and whatever you rolled after it. No wonder his Mumak died so quickly...

In the first game of WOTR I observed, a Nazgul took out a Balrog with a single spell.

I can see why the players would read it that way, it isn't exactly the tightest and most consistent piece of writing. I think it's reasonable to privilege the parts that say "too mighty to be slain by a single blow" and "apply BOTH results."

We will have to have a chat about this locally. It never came up for me, since so few people field vhtk models in out usual 1000pt games.

Actually the FAQ says if you roll another 6 then you do indeed get another (3rd) roll on the table.

If you keep rolling 6s, you keep applying the results, but you don't add them together (so you don't roll two 6s and a 5 and look at 17 on the table :D).

Oh, didn't know that. Guess I have to look into the FAQ more often. (I just thought to play it this way as it says "apply both results" rather then something like "and keep applying the results" or something :p)
