1.Earth-Shaking Charge: Can you also use it if you had killed the entire enemy formation so you can charge another enemy formation?
2.Driven Back: do we need to turn the faces in the opposite direction?
3.If a disordered formation is fighting and it looses, does it still have to test for panic?
4.We may not use the Fight value of the hero in de battle modifiers, what then is the advantage of a higher fight value?

1. Yes. Earth-shaking charge allows you to charge and fight again, doesn't have to be against the same formation, even if it's still there

2. No

3. I would play it that the disordered state remains until they pass a courage test, as per page 50. Others might play it that the result of the next test overrides the previous result though.

4. what are "de battle modifiers"? You use the highest fight value in the company when striking an enemy formation - that's the advantage of higher Fight.

Thanks a lot.

I meant 'combat modifiers' , the batle skill modifier (p. 47).

After rereading the hero section on p. 64, it's clear to me:
When working out the battle skill modifier, the enemy may not use the fight value of its hero(es).

For Battle Skill, you only use a Hero's Fight value when attacking, not being attacked.

E.G. Dragon Knight (F7) in a company of Easterling Cohort (F4) against Balin (F6) in a company of Dwarf Archer Kinband (F4). For the number of Easterling attacks, they get +3 dice (F7 of DK minus F4 of Dwarf Archers) and for the Dwarf attacks they get +2 dice (F6 of Balin minus F4 of Easterling Cohort).

Basically, the extra fight helps you to kill more, but not protect you.

Thanks for the example, now it's very clear

Ah, I've been playing the Fight value thing wrong forever!

I thought someone may have done. It's something I often forget. Captains/Epic Heroes add offence, but only Defence in the form of Courage.

Werner - Hope you don't mind if I jump in your topic and post my own basic rules question.

Q - If a Formation is unable to move (because it has been Immobalised or Epic Challenged for example) can a spell caster in the Formation still cast spells or an Epic Hero jump out to another Formation?

Cheers, Richard

Post subject:  Re: Some basic questions

The Epic hero is subject to whichever spell effects are on the formation he or she occupies. So if the formation cannot move, neither can they move to leave. However, unless the effect specifically prohibits casting (like say a extra sucessful transfix), they may still cast spells.

Khamûl the Easterling: Essence Leech:
Is this for every hit or just one? We've played all hits.

Another question I would like clarification on...

If an Epic Hero (such as Haldir) calls an Epic Shot in the Shoot Phase, can the Formation he is part of still charge in the Charge phase?

If they can, are they free to charge any enemy Formation in range and arc of sight, or do they have to charge the enemy Formation that was on the receiving end of the Epic Shot?

Cheers, Richard.

They are free to charge because they did not shoot, it was only an Epic Action. The formation follows normal rules for charging.
