Great Work there. I didn't know Milliput Worked so well for sculpting !!!!!
Perfect :D .
Just one question though....why do you have 3 kings of the dead  .

Thanks, Larry-Boy.

It's not milliput. It is called ProCreate.

Erm... I think that's just one KotD that I converted. The figure in the middle is my scratch-built model and the one on the right is a warrior of the dead.

I've actually got 5 or 6 KotD having bought several lots on eBay.

Pro create, whatever :p. Does that sell in Canada? I really need some good sculpting stupff for terrain and sculpting, I think GW is way to expensive and you get to little to do anything.

Any way, you still have WAAAAAY to many kings of the dead

Everytime I see and update I'm stunned by your skills. You really are an inspiration.

Do you have an artistic background?

you wouldn't be able to sculpt detail like this into Milliput using a laser..

Brilliant work Nathan ! are you sculpting your own army?

Ah, yes. I always sculpt with an attractive landscape behind me.

Years ago I did a Foundation in Art and Design (one-year course) and then a degree in 3-D Design Ceramics (three-year course), with drawing, printing etc.
I find it relatively easy to think in 3 dimensions and can plan projects in my head. I have always loved making things but have never worked this small until recently.

I remember going to the GW factory for my 14th birthday (23 years ago) and seeing someone sculpting using green stuff on a wire armature. It was amazing. I thought that I'd love to have a go at it one day. Well, I get around to things eventually. :D

Wow I didn't know you had an Art Foundation Degree. Excellent stuff mate!

This sculpt is looking even better than your KOTD one, if thats barely possible. I just don't understand how you do it. Oh well maybe when I hit 37 I'll suddenly develop an artistic flare for sculpting

I want to put an article together on how I'm making this mini, so that should show you how I did it. I feel pretty chuffed so far as my skills and understanding of how to sculpt a mini are increasing. With a lot more practise, it should get better and easier (hopefully) once techniques are learnt.

I've made a scabbard and put a cloak on him. The scabbard's big, but the right size for the sword that he'll be wielding - approximately the size and shape of Glamdring on the original Gandalf model.

The cloak needs a bit more work. Tricky business putting that on.

I used ProCreate to make most of the model. All that is grey is ProCreate. The scabbard was made with milliput and the green details with green stuff (kneadatite).

 Well usually I wouldn't but it has great fashion sense and lots ... nope I don't think I can think of a good enough reason but it's still looking very 'attractive' from a modelling perspective

:D Thanks, everyone.

Here is how he looks now, after more work on the cloak. Still a bit more tidying up to do on it.

 He's frickin gorgeous! (but not in that way )

I can see the cloak is looking highly detailed now just like the entire model, this is a treat to watch, I'd pay to see this lol

Some models sculpted by the infamous Games Workshop have abismal cloak sculpts, to name one - Aragorn from the Breaking of the Fellowship box set. Difference between the two is that yours has the natural rounded curves of a cloak while the dudes in GW went for a retro rectangle appearance.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with his finger bones, (connected to the wrist bone, the wrist bones' connected to the blah blah :P) and can't wait to see his weaponary. Will he have a shield in that raised left arm?

Oh, no, no, no. He'll have something much better than that! Look at the angle of the arm. Can't you see it yet? :D

Let's be kind to GW, Jack. Look at all their really good models! How many do we own?
