So, you eat a lot of balsa then? Strange lad....
Why is the Balrog complaining about Hell? That's where balrogs belong, really...
Have some encouragement: encourage, encourage, encourage (3 for 2, every little helps!)

I was just thinking that..mouth watering balsa, ey..hate to see what happens when there's food around.
Apart from that it is seriously good work from both builders.

Food makes me foam and I need to get a straight jacket and a blindfold to get to the "normal" state.

Never heard of the term "figure of Speech"?

Great work guys!

Really liking the brick and stone effects, that curvy piece of wood at the top of the panel looks great Brian. I still cant believe you did it with balsa, if I had tried to do that I would have cut right through it and would have had to reassemble it to make it look anything like it does now.

Keep it up,

KJ Necromancer

Just took these two photos of the painted wall panel. I still need to do the window itself, but the rest of the panel is finished. The colours may look a bit dark in places - that's probably me over-compensating for the flash.

The grassy slope is just a test piece I made so I can see how the colours of the wall panels will look against a green hillside. The tree is going to be used however.

That looks simply stunning!

Can you please share what type of grass or grass mat you used for the "test" piece. I've got some longer static grasses from Silfor and I'm hoping to achieve the same type of look on my Hobbit holes.

The grass is from a company called Heki, but the Silflor stuff will give equal or better results - their stuff is amaziing. I just used my THING to make it all stand upright.

I've got a THING too. I used it on my test Rohan hill as well. I hope to show off some of my Hobbit Hole WIPS soon. Anyway, thanks!

Did you get all that grass applied in one pass with the THING or did you apply some then let it dry and then apply some more? I'm still trying to figure out the best way to lay a thick coat of lush static grass. Also, what sort of glue are you using?

Hmm. A lot of members seem to have a Thing.

Great Update Alan! That test piece is better than I would do as a final piece ..

You and Brian put us all to shame. :yay:

Brent, something that small I do in one session, but anything larger than that I would do in batches. I paint the surface of the piece using Raw Umber (graveyard earth) acrylic paint, and then apply a layer of Woodland Scenics flock to it (sort of like a grassy 'base coat"). Then once that's dry, I coat it with PVA glue and whip out my THING!
