Nice! How long have you been sculpting? You sculpt like a professional! :yay:

Thanks.

One and a half years have been misspent on this beast - on and off.

My other sculpting projects are in my gallery.

The oldest project is the mumak head, which I did a few years ago.

Okay, but how long is it since you sculpted for the first time?

I was probably 2 years old when I first squished play-dough in my fist. :-D

That was a long time ago.

I studied ceramics for my degree, so did a fair bit of sculpting then - but nothing like this.

That was a long time ago too.

I consider the mumak my first lotr 28mm scale sculpt. I think I made that head about four or five years ago.

I've not made sculpted much, though. My creations so far are the mumak head, the ruined fort, the ent, two halfling holes, the dead banner bearer and the dragon.

Great work, I really like Smaug and even when it takes a long time, you won't get me uninterested!

Only that? I thought you were a very experienced scultor, 'cause it looks like that! 8)

One doesn't neccessarily need a lot of experience (although it can help) to be good at things. Sometimes all that is required is a natural aptitude and Nat, you have that in spades. 8)

What do you mean 'like a professional' ... this started off as a Horse, but went severely wrong !

I heard it was Lobelia Sackville-Baggins, but he couldn't get the umbrella right.

I spread a thin layer of green stuff on the model then cut and roll out loads of tiny balls of green stuff. I push these on with a sculpting tool and shape them. Simple but effective.

All those scales... and one arrow, just one arrow, in the right place and the right time - dead!
Now there's a conversion project...

Don't think I'm letting you anywhere near this model with a bow and arrow, Chris!

Working down to the end of the tail. Nearly done this side.

I've just done another hour of sculpting. Nearly finished that tail. Should get the end of it completed tomorrow evening if all goes to plan. :-D
