the title should say most of it.
I wanted a strong list that would do well against most opponents

Durburz
4 prowlers
12 gobs bows
12 gobs spears
10 gobs shields

Buhrdur
Shade
4 wargs
-------------------------
500pts, 45models, 6pts of might, 12 bows, a shade

this list should do well against most. having the shade and close to max numbers should allow me to get through even the meanest walls, and Buhrdur helping to break through and high D stuff. the wargs are there mostly cause my army is slow, ill use them to delay the enemy and/ or try to flank and charge banners ect (even if they cant kill the banner, the enemy will try hard to stop the wargs, so my gobs dont have to fight as much). oh, and the wargs can be used to zip to objectives in the last turn or two, and try to contest them. I would put more prowlers in there, but i dont have any more.... I also have yet to get the new WD to check out the new stuff (and i dont have the money to get much right now). durburz shouldnt have too much trouble with stand fasts, C4, some might and 2 will should be alright.

its main weaknesses are enemy magic, Legolas, massed bows (elves or GC), and anything that drains Durburz's will/ courage. Obviously i cant have everything so ill have to go without a nazgul.

Not much to say about it, you've pretty much identified the strengths and weaknesses. If you can make decent use of terrain to interrupt bowfire, it looks like a fun army to play.

Yup, you've pretty much summed it up there. I might drop Durburz for a captain and max out your numbers.

PLus you could use him to supercharge your wargs which could always come in handy.

hmm, just got the new WD. Im not sold on the blackshield capt or the shaman. the capt cant get spear support and he HAS to use 2h, so he'll lose alot of fights, and the shaman is only useful if there is really someone worth neutralising (and tremor needs a 5+, so not worth it). that being said, i do like the blackshields warriors cause ive been dying for some S4, D6 warriors. the drummers and shade combo seems pretty powerful, you win most of your fights. and the cave drake seems amazing (as long as there is a ruling he's a hero)

soon im going to buy a bunch of stuff from the UK, paints, green stuff, blackshields command, 2 blisters of blackshields, 1 blister of prowlers, cave drake, at least 3 blisters of spiders, a blister of bats, maybe a spider queen
ill leave some of the stuff for ppl to get me for xmas, and when its my birthday Ill get a bunch of blackshield blisters as well as ask for some (gonna need alot for wotr :P)

Ooops yeah, I read that wrong my bad. Thanks for that newbie. Yeah i think he is better than a goblin captain so I would keep him.

It's a hero, it's listed as such in Legions of Middle Earth. All the entries in the Monsters list are heroes.

but loME is really out dated, and there are still tons of mistakes in there, not to mention that change it alot (lothlorien list for example, showing how LoME is only useful for finding who can ally)

Why do you think it's a warrior? Because it has no might, will or fate?

LoME might be outdated, but only where newer sourcebooks contradict it. It doesn't mean everything in it now is wrong. It's correct until contradicted.

If the drake wasn't a hero, you'd have to take another monster in the monster list as a leader, and that would be just crazy...you could only field it along with a dragon or balrog...? You could never use it in less than 1000 points.

It is already official confirmed by most tournaments and the official Gw tournaments, cave drakes are hero's.
