Thank you all for the kind comments... Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's a short guy with a beard and axe:

Been working on 40K armies, so not much of an update on the LotR front, but here it is, my first update since June (I think). I have a painting guide up on my website, beneath my Haradrim one (Link: http://lotrand40k-cgom.webs.com/paintingguides.htm)

Dwarf Rangers:

Comparison Shot - compared to what they looked like before:

I have still got to base them, which means buying some sand and also plan on re-basing my entire Dwarf and Goblin army - over 150 models

I realise that black/grey and red can be hard to paint, but the cloak and red sleeves could use another one (or two) highlights. They just look flat right now. The weapon's also look like they could use a couple of glazes to darken them down a bit, and then a highlight or to on the edge to bring them to life. I'm not wanting to be all down on your painting, but just saying that they're perfect and awesome would be lying....

I myself prefer to get some constructive critisism rather than just a bunch of people saying "awesome!". I hope I didn't discourage you... :)

Nice colour scheme, fairly reasonable for dwarves who wish to camouflage whilst still adhering to their own personal heraldry. Well done :yay:

I agree with you on the weapons (although I like shiny weapons on my good models), however the cloth and the cloak don't seem to have shown up very well in the image (I blame the lack of sunlight) you didn't discourage me, criticism is always good as I want to improve. I've tried taking some better pictures as well.

Thank you,
I've been working on an Orc Shaman for the painting challenge recently, just thought I'd post him here as well, now where's that army list...

Can't believe I've forgotten to reply. Thanks for the kind replies, helps keep me motivated. Got 20 Dwarves ready for priming now, as part of the Backlog reduction oath, so now I have to choose a colour scheme. Here they are primed:

Thank you all for your kind words, I hope to get more painted soon, even though I found 16 of my old Goblins - which look even worse than grey plastic! :( :o

Or you could just paint anyway :P got 3 exams (24th, 26th, 30th) coming up, and these were painted during two more (both on Friday 13th!) but I still got them done - and it's the perfect excuse if I fail:

But... But... the Dwarves threatened to kill me if I didn't paint them!
