A needle would be way too thin.... it wouldn't work very well. Unless your making chain-mail, then one works great.

I put on the first brown undercoat, just a normal medium dark brown. Will update with pictures. I hope I can finish this off before the end of the week, what with school and other commitments. I plan on using lots of wahses and dry-brushes to make lot of variation throughout the whole ent, while maintaining it's overall cohesivness. We'll see how it goes....

mine has a round pellet on the ending so it's shaped like this ------------O One end for carving the other end to make it smooth

Oh, like a darning/knitting needle. Those are thicker and thus would work much better. :lol:

Undercoated brown.

Now with a couple of quick drybrushes to bring out the detail and some green washes to start off the moss/moldy parts.....

Ready???!!! We'll see. I would like to think that I'm getting close to being done, but I want to do more washes and dry brushes yet, and I have to put the foliage on yet!

Does anyone have any ideas for the eyes? I'm thinking I'll try the golden brown like treebeard had in the movies, with a black dot in the middle, rather than white with a black dot.

Well, I have quite dark brown eyes for right now, I tried something brighter, but it looked too cartoony and stood out too much.

I put some more highlights on, specifically some light green lichen drybrushes on the legs.
