With the recent burial of WOTR, it seems a wise idea to get into SBG :) . So here is my Isengard list (assuming my opponent lets me use Gobbo's with spears for Orcs), at three points levels:

250 pts:

Warband 1: Uruk Captain - Heavy Armour, Shield - 60
5x Uruk-Hai Warriors - Shield - 50
5x Uruk-Hai Warriors - Crossbow - 55

Warband 2: Uruk-Hai Captain - Twohanded Weapon - 55
2x Uruk-Hai Berserker - 30

500 pts
Warband 3: Orc Captain - Warg, Shield - 55
Warg Rider - Orc Bow - 26
Warg Rider - Shield - 26

Warband 4 - Uruk-Hai Captain - Heavy Armour - 60 (this warband will combine with the Shieldwarriors to form a phalanx)
6x Uruk-Hai Warrior - Pike - 60
6x Orc Warrior - Spear - 36

The Uruk Captain in Warband 1 gains a Crossbow - 5

750 pts
Warband 5: Saruman - 170

Moria Goblin Captain - Orc Bow - 40
Moria Goblin Warrior - Orc Bow - 25

Warband 2 gets a 3rd Berserker.

That's assuming, of course, that the current prices for these units will remain correct in the new sourcebooks.

Battalia, why is that relevant to my list :) . I can't say anything about the actual lists, because I don't play SBG yet.

You could probably sill do with having spears/pikes in the smallest list, also a Captain cannot have both a shield and a crossbow, one or the other. Beserkers are better with 3-4 or ore.

Don't worry.

If I want spears, I'll need to fire the crossbows, and that leaves me with no ranged support, so I left the Uruk Phalanx for 500 pts. Why can't a captain have shield and crossbow (I only have MoM rulebook, so please tell me if I miss something)? Well, there are 3 berserkers. Sort of. (2 Berserkers + Captain with 2HW)

BTW, is there a way of getting the Dwarf warrior profiles (without sourcebook)?

A model cannot use a shield and a bow/crossbow at the same time. It is the rules.

Besides, Vrasku is MUCH better than any other Uruk Captain for 60 pts. Trade at least one captain from each list for vrasku. If you want a captain to have a shielda AND a ranged weapon, take Lurtz.

Yes he can in part. He can take both a shield and a bow - he just doesn't benefit from the +1 defense offered by the shield because he is unable to use both at the same time. However, during the fight phase, he can elect to use his shield for the shielding rule so it still has some benefit.

Example is Lurtz who has both shield and bow but no extra defense from shield.

Don't the corsairs crossbow guys have a crossbow and a shield? I think you can have a crossbow and a shield you just don't get the +1 to defence like oredds said above.

They have a special rule that give them +3 defence in the shoot phase, but in the fight phase, they gain no bonus from it.

Oo thats pretty cool i didn't know that.

Edit: Do you really need to have that much heros in your lists? thats seems like so much heros... If you really need about that much to play these new sbg rules then i think im just going to stick with LOME.

only 1 hero to 0-12 dudes so if your playing moria it will be scaled down while elven army's (depending on build) might not care at all!

I don't have Vrashku's Rules, and hate the model, so I'll just stick with the Captain.

I don't think it's the MoM rules, but I'm not sure. Then what to swap the shield for (in the 500 pts list). In the 750 pts I'll just take another bow gobbo. (I read the posts below this one, but just for the shielding rule seems rather useless)

Vrasku is an uruk captain with a crossbow+1 extra might+2 shots a turn for 60 pts (I hope they increased his price a little, cause he's overpowered).

What I was saying was that you cannoy USE them at the same time, and if you think about it the shielding part is till silly too, because to shield you must be in combat, and to be in combat, you must have chargged or been charged, and in that case, you cannot fire your crossbow.

Vrask' D5 or a normal urk capitain's D 6 w/ heavy armor have nothing to fear from bow fire anyways, so a shield in that case is overkill

Just because the model has a shield (painting conversion from a regular Uruk), I'll have my Crossbowless captain have shields.

And that's why I asked for advice what to swap it for :D .
