New year, new project! And nothing like a BIG project to get me back to do some hobby!

Latelly I've been feeling a bit like doing some terrain again, and decided to have a go with an iconic building: the Prancing Pony.
For now I'm just trying to sort out all the kinks using GSU. I'm happy enough on how it is, but there are still a couple things I want to change before I actually start the building process. Nothing too crazy though.

I also have not decided yet if I'm going for interiors too. I'd really like to, but the whole process would need to be different and a lot harder and time consuming.

Anyway, here's some GSU pics. I hope I can actually start it some time soon, rather than later.

That is going to be stunning Miguel, cannot wait! :)
Personally, if it is going to be part of a large game board maybe having the interior of just this one centerpiece would make sense.

This looks like a cool project. I too would go for a playable interior, though it would add a lot of work.

Back to work...

After doing some minor changes to the inicial model you can see above to the point I am happy enough with it, I'm ready to actually start the real thing. The first thing I did was to print the plans in some sticky paper so that i could just glue those in the foamcore boards. This saves me the trouble of sketching all the plans in the foamcore and gives me a nice base to cut and start detailing each part. Last thing I did so far was to cut all the individual bits (some still need some of the inner cutouts). Next I'll start detailling them with balsa strips and some filler (for the brickstone areas)... but thats for some other day... maybe during the weekend or something.

Looking great. Good idea to print off the plans and paste them to the board you won't have to woory about measuring errors and you know what everything is just by looking at it.

Finally managed to have a totally free afternoon, and it wasnt totally wasted! Managed to do a couple of sections. Mostly to try some things, and get the the hang of it. The pictures are totally off on colour (wich I'm still looking for something I like) but its good enough. The wood in the second one is really just am inicial wash, really early stuff. On the first one is a bit more ahead, but like I said, I'm still trying things. Might change a lot. In fact, the wash is still wet in some parts ehe.

Lots of parts missing, weathering, stucco... gonna take a while to get this one done! Even without thatching! :o

Well, its not like I quit the Prancing Pony project or anything, I actually did a few more parts but its a slow process and I'm in painting mode now. ehe

Finally picked the one Balrog I bought pretty much in the same day it came out (the very first metal one) and I'm commited to finish it soon! Its actually sort of a repaint, as I did start it before, just never went past that. So, I primed it again and here I go! wOOt!

Heres how its looking at the moment. A bit messy at parts still, and some darked areas satinated a bit, but I can work that out with good old reliable Dullcoat.

Terrible model to take pictures of... hope I can get better ones next time.
